Robert Lee Defibaugh, IV

June 5, 1982 — August 7, 2026

The world lost a gentle soul on August 7, 2026, when Robert Lee Defibaugh, IV, passed away at the age of 44. Born on June 5, 1982, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Robert graced the lives of those around him with his kindness and unwavering generosity. Robert was the beloved son of the late Robert Lee Defibaugh, III and Ramona Gaye Setty Defibaugh. His family roots gave him strength and a sense of belonging, which he carried throughout his life. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Thomas William Ford, whose memory he cherished. A proud graduate of Fairfield Central High School, Robert went on to make his mark in the working world. He embarked on his professional journey with Southeastern Freight Lines and Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Company. However, it was his role as the general manager of the Sonic Restaurant on Two Notch Road in Columbia that truly showcased his leadership and dedication. Robert's passions were as varied as they were fulfilling. An avid outdoorsman, he found joy in fishing and the warmth of campfires. He cherished long car rides with his wife, Amanda Ford Defibaugh, and delighted in attending community festivals. His love for animals was evident in his devotion to his cats and his advocacy for their well-being. In his spare time, Robert was an expert with computers and enjoyed the simple pleasure of reading. To those who knew him, Robert was a gentle giant with an enormous heart. His selflessness knew no bounds; he always put others before himself, embodying a spirit of kindness and compassion that touched everyone he encountered. Robert leaves behind a legacy of love and treasured memories. He is survived by his devoted wife, Amanda; his brother, Matthew Defibaugh, and sister-in-law, Ashton, of Winnsboro, SC; his mother-in-law, Beth Ford Scott, and her husband, Rod, of Lexington, SC; and his paternal grandmother, Velma Defibaugh of Winnsboro, SC. His special cousin, John Grayson "Scutt" Wilson, along with a multitude of extended family and friends, will forever hold him in their hearts. In remembrance of Robert's giving nature, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of their choice, in lieu of flowers. Through these acts of kindness, Robert’s spirit will continue to inspire and uplift, just as he did in life.
