Ward, a beloved partner, father, and friend, on April 22, 2026, at Cone Hospital, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. Robert was born on September 22, 1955, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late James L. Ward and Jill Hinkle Ward, who undoubtedly welcomed him into their embrace with open arms.
Robert is survived by his devoted partner of over 30 years, Donnie Ray Bell, and his cherished daughter, Maegan A. Ward, both of whom brought immense joy and meaning to his life. His enduring partnership with Donnie was a testament to love's strength and resilience, a beautiful journey marked by shared dreams and unwavering support. As a father, Robert's love for Maegan was boundless, and he took immense pride in her accomplishments and the wonderful person she has become.
A man of intellect and compassion, Robert pursued a B.A. degree in education, a path that led him to a fulfilling career as a Spanish teacher. His dedication to his students extended far beyond the classroom, where he shared not just the intricacies of language, but also his passion for learning and understanding different cultures. In earlier years, Robert also explored the world of radio, where his charismatic voice and vibrant personality resonated with listeners.
Robert was a faithful member of Central United Methodist Church in Asheboro, North Carolina, where he found a spiritual home and a community that embraced him as family. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him through moments of joy and challenges with grace and hope.
In his younger days, Robert delighted in travel, exploring new places with a sense of wonder and curiosity that he carried throughout his life. Above all, he treasured time spent with family, creating memories filled with laughter, love, and a deep sense of togetherness.
Though our hearts ache with his loss, we find comfort in the legacy he leaves behind: a legacy of kindness, love, and an unwavering dedication to those he held dear. As we celebrate Robert's life, we hold onto the countless memories and the love he so generously shared.
Robert's family wishes to express their gratitude for the outpouring of support and love during this difficult time and kindly asks for continued prayers as they navigate the days ahead.
