King, a beloved son,husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this world peacefully on September 18, 2026, in the embrace of divine tranquility. Born in Canton, Ohio, on March 17, 1956, Robert lived his life with unwavering courage, love, and dedication to his family and passions. Robert was the cherished son of the late Freda Mae (Haynes) King and Ervin King of Canton, Ohio. He was predeceased by his daughter Nikki (Johns) Salisbury and two sisters, Rose Andrews and Sherry Edgell. His life was a testament to resilience and strength, attributes he shared with his surviving family: his devoted wife of 37 years, Janet L. King, and his daughters, Gina (Danny) Rhodes and Monica Strickland of Georgia. Robert also leaves behind nine grandchildren—Taylor (Johns) Beegle, Christopher (Savannah, Baby Iyla Godbey), Aaron Jarvis, Dylan Jarvis, Haley Salisbury, Adam (Lily and Baby Jessica) Sparks, Nicholas Wayne of Georgia, Jason Christian, and Tyler Christian of Kentucky—and four great-grandchildren. His siblings, Gary (Sheila) King, Tonya (Joe) Wilson, and Lori Edgell Holbrook, will forever cherish their memories with him. Close friends Doc, Rick, and Roy will remember him fondly. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Marines, an experience that instilled in him a profound sense of duty and honor. After his service, he devoted his professional life to the timbering business, the automobile industry as a mechanic, and working on various oil rigs. Robert and Janet shared a love for bow shooting competitions across West Virginia, and they enjoyed bowling in a league for years. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and spending cherished moments with his great-grandchildren at the park, pool, or on simple walks. Robert had a zest for life, racing R.C. cars and riding his motorcycle, passions that reflected his love of tattoos, motorcycles, and rock 'n' roll. Through countless surgeries and health challenges, Robert exhibited remarkable strength, never once complaining or showing fear. A memorial service to celebrate Robert's life will be held on September 26, 2026, at 13:06 at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, located at 206 Beauty Street, Spencer, West Virginia. Following the service, everyone is invited to gather for a meal and share memories at the home of Gary and Sheila King, 518 Mud Fork Road, Spencer, WV 25276.
