Robert was the beloved son of Brenda and Jim Hanson, who both predeceased him, leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jenna, with whom he shared a lifetime of cherished memories since their beautiful wedding on August 12th in Laguna Beach, California. Robert's family extended beyond blood, encompassing his siblings, numerous friends, and a close-knit extended family, all of whom held a special place in his heart. He was a proud grandfather to six vibrant grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, leaving a legacy of love that will continue through them.
A man of great intellect and spirit, Robert graduated from Stanford University, where he played lacrosse, displaying the same determination and teamwork that would characterize his life. Shortly after, he answered the call of duty by joining the Air Force, serving his country with honor for 22 years. Robert's military service was a testament to his unwavering commitment to protect and serve, earning him the respect and admiration of all who knew him.
Following his military career, Robert found his true calling working at a children's hospital, where his compassion and dedication shone brightly. He devoted the remainder of his life to volunteering at the same hospital, offering comfort and hope to countless families and children. His selfless spirit and unwavering kindness left an indelible mark on all who crossed his path, making the world a kinder place.
Robert's life will be celebrated on March 6, 2026, at the Church of Saint John Cantius, located at 825 N Carpenter St, Chicago, IL 60642. The service will begin at 12:00, providing an opportunity for family and friends to gather, share memories, and honor the extraordinary life he led. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the children's hospital he cherished, continuing his legacy of giving and support.
