It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert “Kevin” Chowning, a beloved father, brother, and friend, who passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026, in the loving presence of his family. Born on September 12, 1968, in Springfield, Tennessee, Kevin graced this world with his gentle spirit and golden heart for 57 wonderful years. Kevin was the cherished son of the late Jimmy Chowning and Sue Ann West, who preceded him in death, along with his dear brothers, James “T.C.” Chowning, Stephen Chowning, and Ronald Chowning. Though the family feels the weight of their absence, they find solace in the thought that these beloved souls are reunited once more. A devoted fabricator by trade, Kevin was a true craftsman, admired for his meticulous work and artistic talent. His creations were not just products of his hands but of his heart, each piece reflecting his innate creativity and dedication. Outside of his professional life, Kevin was a passionate NASCAR fan, finding joy and excitement in the thrill of the race. Kevin’s love for his family was the guiding light of his life. He is survived by his beloved children, Justin Chowning and Holli Oney, who will forever cherish the love and wisdom their father imparted. His legacy continues through his five treasured grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his days. Kevin also leaves behind his supportive siblings, Connie Chowning and Robert West, who were a source of strength and companionship throughout his journey. Those who knew Kevin were touched by his heart of gold and his profound innocence. He possessed an unwavering kindness and generosity that endeared him to all who crossed his path. Kevin's life was a testament to the power of love and compassion, qualities that he embodied effortlessly. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Smith County Health & Rehab for their exceptional care and compassion during Kevin’s final days. Their dedication and kindness provided comfort and peace to both Kevin and his family during a difficult time. As we celebrate Kevin’s life, we remember a man who brought light and love to those around him. His memory will be forever cherished in the hearts of his family and friends. A memorial service will be held to honor Kevin's life, with details to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Kevin’s name to a charity of your choice, as a reflection of his generous spirit. Kevin's journey may have ended, but his spirit will forever remain in the lives of those he touched. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love he so richly deserved.
