It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Robert Kelly Blake, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, friend, and dedicated community member. Robert departed this world in the comfort of his sleep on April 9, 2026, at the age of 94, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and indelible memories. Born on September 1, 1931, in Hartford, Connecticut, Robert was a beacon of strength and compassion. He was the cherished son of Mabel and Sylvester Blake, and he carried the values instilled by his parents throughout his life. He was predeceased by his adored wife, Sylvia Dugger Blake, his brothers Sylvester and Richard, and his loving parents. Robert's journey was marked by a deep and enduring love story. On June 14, 1952, he married Sylvia Stevens Dugger, his childhood sweetheart. Together, they built a beautiful life in and around Fort Lauderdale, Florida, raising five wonderful children and creating a home filled with laughter and love. Their union was blessed with four grandchildren, who were the lights of Robert's life. He is survived by his devoted sister, Ann Parsons, his brother Steve and his wife Kathy, and his cherished children and their spouses: Mary Blake Ary and son, Blake, Kelly Blake and his wife Corina, Carley and Kelli Blake, Steve Blake and his wife Irina, and son Jimmy Blake, Jeff Blake and his wife Inga, and Kevin Blake and his wife Susan. Robert's legacy continues through his four beloved grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy and pride to his life. Robert attended St. Charles Catholic School for Boys, then Bexley High School followed by Ohio State University. A proud veteran, Robert served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, exemplifying courage and dedication. In his professional life, he was a self-employed real estate broker, a career he passionately pursued until shortly before his passing. He worked closely with his children, particularly his son Jeff, traveling and constructing steel buildings and forming lifelong friendships across the country. An avid biker and camper, Robert embraced the beauty of the outdoors with enthusiasm and vigor. His athletic abilities were matched only by his welcoming nature and the warmth of his clear blue eyes, which made everyone he encountered feel special and valued. Robert was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church, particularly dedicated to St. John the Baptist Parish, where his faith and community spirit were pillars of his life. A service to celebrate Robert's life will be held on April 17, 2026, at 12:30 pm at St. John the Baptist Church, located at 4595 Bayview Drive, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308. The service will be followed by interment at Evergreen Cemetery at 2:00 pm, 1300 SE 10 Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301. Robert Kelly Blake's life was a testament to the power of love, the importance of family, and the joy of living fully. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Robert's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting his generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
