With profound love and reverence, we celebrate the life of Robert John Kosik, a man whose presence touched the hearts of many. Born on October 27, 1931, in Oak Park, Illinois, Robert was the cherished son of Sylvia Triska and Frank Kosik. He peacefully departed this world on April 7, 2026, at the age of 94, due to complications from pneumonia.
Robert's journey was one filled with adventure and dedication, marked by his unwavering commitment to his country, family, and the world around him. After graduating from Morton High School and Morton College, Robert answered the call of duty, serving honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Stationed in Kirarazu, Japan, at the Itazuke Air Base on Hunshu Island from December 1951 until July 1953, he worked diligently as an Aircraft Jet Engine Mechanic on the F-84 Thunderbird Planes. His exemplary service earned him both the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal, accolades that reflect his steadfast character and dedication.
Following his military service, Robert embarked on a career that would see him making significant contributions as a Radiology Repair Technician with Packard Instruments. His work took him across Illinois, Florida, and Puerto Rico, where his expertise and commitment to excellence left a lasting impact on his colleagues and the communities he served.
Robert was a man of varied interests, with a profound love for travel and hiking. His adventurous spirit led him to explore the beauty of the world, one trail at a time, always seeking new horizons and deeper connections with nature. These pursuits mirrored his inner journey, one marked by curiosity, resilience, and a deep appreciation for life's wonders.
In his personal life, Robert was blessed to share over 43 years with his beloved partner, Martha Passailaigue, whose companionship brought him joy and fulfillment. Though he did not have children of his own, Robert cherished his family deeply. He is lovingly remembered by his two nieces, Jean Greene of Lake Worth, Florida, and Laura Coszena of Aurora, Illinois, as well as his two great nieces and two great nephews. His legacy of kindness and strength continues to inspire them.
Robert was predeceased by his parents and his only brother, Jack Kosik, with whom he shared a deep bond. Their memories remain etched in his heart, guiding him throughout his life.
In a final act of generosity, Robert chose to be a full body donor to the Prisma Health System, exemplifying his lifelong commitment to helping others and advancing medical knowledge.
As we bid farewell to Robert, we celebrate a life well-lived, enriched by service, adventure, and love. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, a testament to a life that was as impactful as it was inspirational. May he rest in peace, forever embraced by the love of those whose lives he touched.
