Robert James Nolen, Jr.

May 29, 1970 — May 26, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert James Nolen, Jr., a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend, who left this world unexpectedly on May 26, 2026, just three days shy of his 56th birthday. Born on May 29, 1970, in Detroit, Michigan, Robert's life was a testament to kindness, humor, and an unwavering dedication to those he held dear. Robert was the beloved son of Robert and Linda Nolen, who provided him with a foundation rooted in love and support. He grew up in a family filled with warmth and laughter alongside his sisters, Kathy Sweet and Lisa Nolen, who were not only his siblings but his lifelong friends. The lessons imparted by his late Uncle, Reverend Father Joseph C. Nolen, C.S.S.R., and his Godparents, Wayne and Linda Sanford, were instrumental in shaping Robert's compassionate nature and steadfast faith. Robert had a special bond with his nephew, Patrick Devin Sweet, D.O., his wife Erin Moore Sweet RN, and their children, Briley Mae Sweet and Patrick Devin Sweet III. As an uncle, he was a source of wisdom, encouragement, and joy, always ready with a gentle smile and a listening ear. His niece, Courtney Sweet, will forever remember the countless moments of laughter and love they shared. His family extended beyond blood, including his Aunt Lori Workman, cousins Jeffrey and Bethany Sanford, and Heather and Ashley Workman, all of whom he cherished deeply. Robert’s beloved cat, Buddy, was a loyal companion who provided him with endless comfort and affection. Professionally, Robert was a valued team member at Serenity House, where he was respected and admired by his co-workers and management alike. His dedication to his work was matched only by his genuine care for those around him, making a lasting impact on everyone he encountered. Robert's life was a beautiful symphony of love, laughter, and quiet strength. Though he has left this earthly realm, his spirit will forever dwell in the hearts of those who knew him. In honoring his legacy, let us remember the simple joys he cherished: a warm conversation, a good book, and the company of loved ones. A memorial service to celebrate Robert's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to share memories and find solace in the love that he so freely gave. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Robert's memory, to continue his legacy of helping others. Robert James Nolen, Jr. will be deeply missed but never forgotten, for his life was a testament to the enduring power of love and kindness. May he rest in eternal peace.
