It is with heavy hearts yet profound gratitude for his life that we announce the passing of Robert J. Lawrence, lovingly known to many as Bob, who peacefully departed this world on April 28, 2026, at the age of 83. Bob passed away surrounded by the love and comfort of his family at their cherished family home in Colchester, Vermont. Born on March 23, 1943, in Colchester, Vermont, Bob was the beloved son of the late Henry F. Lawrence and Helen H. (Bushey) Lawrence. He was predeceased by his sisters Nancy, Sandra, Lavonne, and Patricia, and brothers Ted, Fred, and Jim, who will undoubtedly be welcoming him with open arms. Bob leaves behind a legacy of love and commitment, most profoundly seen in the 68-year partnership with his beloved wife, Brenda. Their marriage was a testament to trust, respect, and unwavering commitment. Together, they built a family that became the cornerstone of Bob's life. He is survived by his seven children: Robert and Paula Benoure of Haines City, FL; Lisa LaFramboise of Colchester, VT; Robin and Patricia Benoure of Colchester, VT; Michael and Pamela Benoure of Colchester, VT; Krista and Adam Porter of Milton, VT; Wendy and Sean Brodie of Colchester, VT; and Brad Benoure and Angela Seymour of Colchester, VT. Bob was also the proud grandfather to 21 grandchildren, whom he adored and who lovingly referred to him as "Pops": Robert Jr., Rebecca, Jason, Erin, Corey, Troy, Christopher, Ryan, Lindsey, Kaitlyn, Joshua, Jessica, Jeramie, Jared, Jordanne, Kayleigh, Jonathan, Owen, Ellie, Isabel, and Kobe. His legacy of love continues through his 17 great-grandchildren. In 1966, Bob founded Benoure Plumbing & Heating, a business that stands today as a testament to his hard work and integrity. With dedication and determination, he built a reliable and reputable company that became a trusted name in the community. His four sons proudly carried on the family legacy, contributing to its growth while upholding the values upon which it was founded—a true family enterprise that supported many. Bob's life was rich with passion and interests. Upon learning of his diagnosis of Oculopharyngeal Muscular Dystrophy, he seized the opportunity to retire early, embracing the adventures of travel in his cherished motorhome. In 1994, Bob and Brenda began spending their winters in Estero, Florida, where Bob relished the warmth and sunshine, socializing with neighbors and cruising the neighborhood in his golf cart with his beloved dog, Rascal. Summers were equally cherished at their home on Lake Champlain, which was the backdrop for countless family gatherings filled with laughter and love. A man of simple pleasures, Bob found joy in his love of cars, from his prized 1967 Chevy Impala SS to his 1971 Corvette Stingray. He was an avid fan of local stock car races, the Dragon brothers, and NASCAR, where he found excitement and camaraderie. Bob was a humble man, never seeking recognition for his accomplishments. He was a guiding light to his children, offering wisdom and teaching them the importance of doing the right thing, never giving up, and cherishing family above all else. His ability to solve any problem, share endless jokes and pranks, and his unwavering spirit and determination will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In honoring his memory, a service will be held at Holy Cross Church, 416 Church Road, Colchester, VT, on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026, at 11:00 AM. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, an organization close to Bob's heart. Bob's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and laughter, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit and the lessons he imparted will continue to guide and inspire us.
