Sunbury, PA—Robert Irvin Parsons, cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a friend to many, passed away peacefully at home on March 28, 2026. Born on February 24, 1965, in Sunbury, Pennsylvania, Robert lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication, surrounded by the warmth of his family and friends. He was 61 years old.
Robert was the beloved son of Bill and Betty Parsons. He was predeceased by his brother, William Parsons, with whom he shared many fond childhood memories. He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Della J. Parsons, who was his steadfast companion and confidante. Together, they built a life filled with love and joy, celebrating their marriage on February 27, 1967, in North Carolina.
A proud graduate of Sunbury High School in 1965, Robert soon dedicated himself to serving his country. He joined the United States Marine Corps, serving six honorable years, including 14 challenging months in Vietnam. His dedication and bravery were evident in his service, embodying the Marine motto, "Semper Fi."
After his time in the military, Robert found his calling as a commercial truck driver, a career he pursued with diligence and pride, primarily driving for Pennsylvania Furniture. His work ethic was unparalleled, and his colleagues often remarked on his commitment and reliability.
Robert was a man who said what he meant and meant what he said, a quality that endeared him to everyone he met. He was a lifetime member of several organizations, including the American Legion Post 201, the Elks Club, the Moose, the VFW, and the Americus Hose Company. It was at the Americus, every day at 3:00 pm, that Robert and his buddies would gather to solve the world's problems, a testament to his dedication to community and friendship.
A huge Philadelphia Eagles fan, Robert's passion for sports extended to watching his great-grandson play. His love for his family was boundless, and he found immense joy in spending time with his daughters, Lisa Lytle and Jennifer Parsons, and his grandchildren, Sheena Espinal (Ricardo Espinal), Nathan Savidge (Zachary Paca), Marissa Swinehart (Ben Swinehart), and Joshua Parsons. The light of his life was his great-grandson, Ricardo Robert Espinal, whose sports games he never missed.
Robert also had a passion for cooking and cherished his trips to Florida, where he could relax and enjoy the sun. His sisters, Dianne Beaudoin and Susan, along with many nieces and nephews, will forever remember his warmth and generosity.
Robert’s legacy is one of love, integrity, and dedication. His family and friends will forever cherish the memories of his laughter, his stories, and his unwavering support. He leaves behind a world made better by his presence and a family forever grateful for his love.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at a later date, where we will gather to remember and honor a truly remarkable man. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to organizations close to Robert's heart.
Rest in peace, Robert. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
