It is with heavy hearts yet profound gratitude for a life well-lived, that we announce the peaceful passing of Robert Hill on May 17, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on January 10, 1931, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Robert was a beacon of warmth and kindness, whose presence touched the lives of all who were fortunate to know him. Robert was the cherished son of Grace and Harold Hill, who predeceased him, alongside his siblings John and Jim Hill, sister JoAnn Harrison, sister-in-law Barbara Hill, brothers-in-law Ray Clauer and Eugene Harrison, mother-in-law Frances Ward, ex-wife and friend Betty Hill, and son-in-law Chick Gullickson. His memory will forever linger in the hearts of his beloved family and friends. He leaves behind a loving family that includes his children, Michael Hill (Brittany), Julie Gullickson, and Elaine Frank (Ted), as well as his sister Judy Halberslaben. Robert was a proud grandfather to Michael Ehlert, Colin Ehlert (Kayla Chapman), Lindsay Cavens (Michel), Amy Hill, Neil Hill, Julia Frank, Manol Frank, Katya Foust (Derek), and George Frank (Lexi Jacobs). He also was blessed with great-grandchildren Eris and Emily Ehlert, Ayden Hill, Asher Frank, and Sophie Foust, each of whom brought immense joy to his life. In addition, Robert is survived by countless other family members, friends, and honorary grandchildren, all of whom were touched by his infectious happiness and genuine care. Robert served his country with honor during the Korean War as a proud member of the US Army. His dedication and service were a testament to his character and integrity. After his military service, Robert embarked on a successful career with IBM, where he worked diligently until he was fortunate enough to retire early. This early retirement allowed him to fully embrace the hobbies and interests that brought him joy and fulfillment. An avid lover of the outdoors and nature, Robert could often be found exploring wetlands, his heart leaping at the sight of a new bird to add to his list. His youthful spirit was evident in his love for biking, whether on his trusty pedal bike or his motorcycle in his younger years. Robert's joy in life was often shared with his grandchildren, as he delighted in attending their band concerts and soccer games, and was a familiar presence on countless school field trips as a beloved chaperone. Robert was a man of extraordinary character, always happy and genuinely caring about the people he met. He had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome and special, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to be in his company. If you knew him, you loved him—a testament to his ability to touch the lives of so many. As we celebrate the life of Robert Hill, we remember him not only for his achievements but for the love and joy he brought into our lives. His legacy will continue through the family he cherished and the countless individuals he inspired. May his spirit soar freely, much like the birds he so loved to watch, and may his memory be a blessing to all. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Robert's name to a charity of your choice, reflecting his generous spirit and love for helping others. A memorial service to honor his life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to reminisce and celebrate the incredible journey of a truly remarkable man.
