It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of Robert Hauer, who left this world on August 23, 2026, after a courageous battle with illness. Born on September 11, 1954, in Natchez, Mississippi, Robert was the beloved son of Robert and Shirley Riley, and the devoted eldest of six siblings. Robert spent his formative years in the bustling halls of the Kansas City Public School District, where he cultivated a lifelong passion for learning and a sharp mind that loved to engage in spirited debates. His smile, full of charisma and charm, was known to light up any room he entered, leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed his path. In 1981, Robert embarked on a distinguished military career with the U.S. Air Force, proudly serving his country until 2007. He rose to the rank of Master Sergeant, during which time he was stationed in Germany for three transformative years. Throughout his service, he was honored with numerous medals and the highest accolades, a testament to his dedication and unwavering commitment. In 1982, he married the love of his life, Deborah Triplett, forming a steadfast partnership that spanned over four decades. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around family, faith, and a shared sense of adventure. Robert was a cherished father and grandfather, whose legacy lives on in his nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A man of diverse interests, Robert was deeply passionate about jazz, cars, and fine jewelry. He took great pride in always being "suited and booted," a reflection of his impeccable taste and attention to detail. His love for family and his community was exemplified through his active membership at the Friendship Baptist Church in the greater Kansas City area. Robert was preceding in death were his paternal grandparents, father, Robert Riley Sr, sister, Jackie Marie Riley, nieces, Evelyn Thierry, Naushay Riley-Roberson. He leaves behind his beloved wife Deborah Hauer, who will forever cherish their shared memories and the indelible mark he left on their lives. A service to celebrate Robert's life will be held on September 11, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Friendship Baptist Church, located at 3530 Chelsea Dr., Kansas City, MO 64128. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting Robert’s generous spirit and his commitment to helping others. The family wishes to convey a special message: "Say not in grief 'he is no more' but in thankfulness that he was." Robert's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him, forever inspiring us to live with kindness, courage, and an unyielding love for life.
