Robert Forrest Thompson Jr.

January 10, 1965 — February 23, 2026

It is with profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Robert Forrest Thompson Jr., affectionately known as Bobby, a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Bobby departed from this world on February 23, 2026, at the age of 61, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter that will be cherished by all who knew him. Bobby was born on January 10, 1965, in Marietta, Georgia, into the loving arms of his parents, Robert Forrest Sr. and Sue McDonald Thompson, both of whom predeceased him. Bobby's early years were spent in the charming towns of Chattanooga and Louisville, Kentucky, before the family settled in Conyers, Georgia, where Bobby's vibrant spirit truly blossomed. A proud graduate of Heritage High School in 1983, Bobby carried his school pride and warmth wherever he went. His life was a testament to the power of passion and dedication, as he poured his heart into his interests and hobbies. Bobby was a true rock and roll enthusiast, his love for the music echoing in the memories of those who shared in his joy. His appreciation for the thrill and precision of guns was matched only by his unwavering loyalty to Georgia Tech Football. But perhaps Bobby's greatest gift was his boundless affection for dogs, each one he met feeling the warmth of his genuine adoration. He was predeceased by his beloved canine companions, Lemmy, Ozzie, and Molly, who surely greeted him with wagging tails at the rainbow bridge. Bobby's love for his family was unparalleled. He leaves behind his cherished daughter, ShanaCey, and her husband, Mike Word, who were blessed by his unwavering support and guidance. His grandchildren, Haden, Alexa, and Huntlee Word, will forever hold dear the countless joyful moments shared with their beloved grandfather. Bobby is also survived by his sister, Beth, and her husband, Mike Withers, as well as his nephews, Erik (and his wife Nicole), Alex, Ami, and Andy Withers, each of whom he held close to his heart. Bobby's presence was a beacon of warmth and compassion, his laughter a melody that brought friends and family together. As we mourn his departure, we celebrate the indelible mark he left on our lives, remembering a man whose every day was a testament to love, joy, and kindness. A service to honor Bobby's life will be held at a later date, where friends and family can gather to share stories and celebrate the remarkable journey of a man who will be dearly missed but forever remembered. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a local animal shelter in Bobby's name, to honor his love for dogs and his commitment to their care and happiness. Rest in peace, dear Bobby. Your spirit will forever echo in the laughter of your family and the music of your beloved rock and roll.
