It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the peaceful passing of Robert F. Leitner, who departed this world on June 21, 2026, just days shy of his 89th birthday. Born in Fargo, North Dakota, on June 29, 1937, Robert's life was a testament to quiet strength, unwavering dedication, and generous love. Robert was the beloved son of Clarence and Twila Leitner, who instilled in him the values of perseverance and kindness. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Marie Hansen, and his brother William Leitner. Robert's legacy lives on through his surviving family: his devoted wife of 46 years, Becky; his loving sons, Mathew (and his wife Karla) Leitner and Robert Leitner Jr.; and his cherished two grandchildren, who brought him immense joy. A proud graduate of Torrence High School in Torrence, California, Robert went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Navy from October 1965 until his retirement in 1985. His service was marked by dedication and courage, qualities that he carried into his civilian life. Following his military career, Robert transitioned to the oil and gas industry, where he applied his skills and work ethic. Later, he pursued entrepreneurship, establishing a successful business in telephone installation for small companies, before retiring in 2010. Robert was a man of simple pleasures and profound love. His backyard barbeques were legendary, where the aroma of grilled delights mingled with laughter and stories shared among family and friends. An avid fan of the Rockets, he found great enjoyment in watching their games, celebrating victories and commiserating losses with equal passion. Despite his quiet demeanor, Robert's generosity and devotion to his family spoke volumes. He was more than a father; he was a mentor, a friend, and an inspiration to all who knew him. His steadfast presence through life's ups and downs was a source of comfort and strength, and his legacy of love and resilience will forever be cherished by those he leaves behind. A service to honor and celebrate Robert's life will be held on July 8, 2026, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, located at 13001 Katy Freeway. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to Altus Hospice, whose compassionate care and limitless service supported Robert and his family during his final days. The Leitner family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at Altus Hospice for the tender care and support provided during Robert's illness. Their dedication allowed Robert to spend his final moments in peace and comfort, surrounded by the love of his family. Robert F. Leitner will be remembered as a man who lived a life of service, love, and quiet generosity. His memory will continue to inspire and guide us, as we carry his spirit in our hearts forever.
