It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Edward Hollins, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, who departed this life on August 20, 2026, at the age of 72. Robert left this world peacefully in the comfort of his home in San Francisco, California with his devoted wife, Lee, by his side, bringing to a close a life filled with love, laughter, and music. Robert was born on October 3, 1953, in Alexandria, Virginia, to the late Ellis and Betty Price-Hollins. He was a loving son who carried forward the values instilled by his parents throughout his life. Robert was preceded in death, his parents and his four brothers, Charles, Gilbert, Walter, and Nathaniel, whose memories he cherished dearly. A proud alumnus of Alexandria city public schools, Robert attended Lyles Crouch Elementary and T.C. Williams High School, where he made lifelong friendships and laid the foundation for his future endeavors. He carried his passion for learning and sharing knowledge into his work, finding fulfillment in his employment throughout the city of Alexandria, including at Smoot Lumber. Robert's life was a testament to love and commitment. His first wife to Denise, they had a daughter, Roberta Hollins. He married his long-time sweetheart, Lee Barber, on April 13, 2019, but their journey together spanned over 40 years. Their union was a beautiful testament to enduring love and partnership. Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Lee; his daughter, Roberta Hollins; stepchildren, Julian Barber and Kaylea Petro; his sister, Emma M. Hollins; sisters-in-law Joanne Barber (Tim Brickell), one sister in law Emma L. Hollins, one sister in law Barbera Lewis; brother-in-law and his lifelong friend, Eddie (Frog) Harris. He leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that extends to a host of relatives and friends who were touched by his kindness and spirited nature. Known for his quick wit and warm smile, Robert had an uncanny ability to bring joy to those around him. He was always ready with a joke or a light-hearted comment to brighten a room, and he relished spending time with family and friends. Robert had a deep love for jazz music, particularly the works of Miles Davis, and his spirit could often be seen dancing to the soulful rhythms, as he bobbed his head and clicked his fingers to the beat. The family invites you to honor Robert's life Memorial Service repast. October 3, 2026, 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM Gum Springs Community Center, located at 8100 Fordson Road, Alexandria, Virginia 22306. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone for the kindness and love shown during this time of bereavement. Special thanks to the funeral institute, caregiver, and hospice staff who provided exceptional care for Robert, and to the Gum Springs Community Center for hosting the repast. May Jehovah God continue to bless each of you for your support and compassion. Robert Edward Hollins will be dearly missed and forever remembered for his warmth, humor, and the beautiful music of his life. Rest in peace, dear Robert, until we meet again.
