May 12, 1969 — May 11, 2026
It is with heavy hearts yet profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Robert Earl Choate, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Robert peacefully departed from this world on May 11, 2026, just one day shy of his 57th birthday. Born on May 12, 1969, in the serene town of Cadiz, Kentucky, Robert was the cherished son of the late Clarence Aubrey Choate and Kathy Turpin Choate.
Robert, affectionately known as "Rob" to many, was a beacon of warmth and kindness, a testament to the love and dedication instilled in him by his parents. As the youngest of six brothers, he learned early the importance of family, camaraderie, and resilience. His bond with his brothers—Charles, Mike, Jeff, Chris, and Rusty—remained unbreakable throughout his life, a source of joy and strength that he carried into every relationship.
A proud alumnus of Trigg County High School, Class of 1987, Robert embarked on a career that reflected his strong work ethic and commitment. He dedicated his professional life to the lumber industry, serving as a skilled lumber grader at McCraw Lumber, Bailey Lumber, and Beshear Sawmill. His talents and versatility also led him to the waterways, where he worked as a first mate with AEP Barge Co., navigating the rivers with the same steady hand and calm demeanor he brought to all aspects of his life.
Robert's faith was a cornerstone of his existence, and he was a devoted member of Liberty Point Baptist Church. His spiritual journey was marked by a deep commitment to his community and an unwavering belief in the goodness of people.
A man of varied interests, Robert was an ardent NASCAR enthusiast, cheering passionately for his favorite driver, Matt Kenseth. He was also a loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, proudly donning their colors every football season. Robert found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life—fishing, spending time with his loved ones, and most importantly, embracing his role as "Papa Rob" to his beloved granddaughter, Sienna Vaini. His eyes would light up with love and pride whenever he spoke of Sienna, the apple of his eye.
Robert's legacy lives on through his cherished daughter, Brooklyn Vaini, and her husband, Jake, whose lives he enriched with his wisdom, humor, and unwavering support. His granddaughter, Sienna, will carry forward his spirit of kindness and love. His brothers, who shared in his life's journey, will forever hold dear the memories of their adventures and brotherhood.
Though Robert's physical presence will be deeply missed, the impact of his gentle and generous spirit will remain with us all. In honoring his memory, let us remember the warmth of his smile, the depth of his love, and the strength of his character.
A celebration of Robert's life will be held at Liberty Point Baptist Church, where family and friends will gather to pay their respects and share memories of a man who touched the lives of so many. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of choice in Robert's name, reflecting his lifelong commitment to helping others.
May we find comfort in the legacy of love and laughter that Robert leaves behind and cherish the moments that made his life truly extraordinary.
