Robert E. Knox, a cherished husband, devoted father, and beloved grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home on May 28, 2026, at the age of 83. Born in New York on September 12, 1942, Robert lived a life rich in love, laughter, and cherished memories, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Robert was the son of the late Robert and Rita Knox, and the brother of the late Thomas Knox. He was predeceased by his first wife, Gloria Knox, his adored daughter, Victoria Knox, and his parents-in-law, Basil Jackson and Joyce Jackson Curran, whose spirits now warmly reunite with him.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Cheryl Knox, whose companionship was a cornerstone of his life. Together, they built a family that stands as a testament to their enduring love and commitment. Robert leaves behind his children: Paul (Paula) Knox of Menomonee Falls, WI; Rita (Joe) McConkey of Ford River, MI; Heather (Ron) Gerleman of Calmar, IA; Gregory (Telsea) Knox of East Troy, WI; and Martha (Chad) Knox of Commerce City, CO. He was the proud grandfather to Joe McConkey, Nicole (Jaime) Becher, Reece McCartney, Aaron Knox, Hayden Gerleman, and Silas McCartney, and a doting great-grandfather to Marina Becher, Elena Becher, and Siena Becher.
Robert’s siblings, Rita (Jim) Carey and Constance (Stuart) English, along with his sister-in-law, Lori Knox, will forever hold dear the memories of shared family gatherings and laughter-filled conversations.
A proud US Navy veteran, Robert served his country with honor and was a respected member of Legion Post 375 and the VFW. His years in insurance sales were marked by dedication and success, leading to annual trips where he and Cheryl formed lasting friendships that enriched their lives.
An active member of the St. James Catholic Church community, Robert was known for his enthusiastic bingo calling, a role that brought him joy and allowed him to connect with others. He had a passion for the great outdoors, finding solace and adventure in fishing and hunting. His love of travel took him and Cheryl to countless destinations, each trip a new chapter in their shared story.
Music, particularly doo-wop, was the soundtrack to Robert's life, often filling their home with melodies that resonated with his spirit. He possessed a great sense of humor, delighting in a good joke and the smiles of those around him. Robert was a social being, ever ready to engage in conversation, and he cherished the simple pleasures of reading and Sunday afternoon naps.
Robert’s life will be celebrated on August 21, 2026, with a service that honors his legacy and the love he gave so freely to family and friends. He leaves behind a tapestry of memories woven with laughter, kindness, and unwavering love—a legacy that will continue to inspire and comfort all who knew him.
