In Loving Memory

Robert Duncan
January 11, 1961 — October 3, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Robert Duncan, who left us on October 3, 2026, at the age of 65. Born on January 11, 1961, in Shiprock, NM and raised in the close-knit community of Cudeii, New Mexico. Robert was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Davis and Sadie Kellywood.
Though his physical presence is no longer with us, Robert's legacy lives on through his mother, Roseanna Valdez; his surviving children, Vanessa Duncan-Perez and David Duncan; as well as his adored grandchildren Brooke Duncan, Chase Duncan, and Elsie Duncan. He is also survived by his brothers, Wade Duncan Jr. and Davis Duncan; and his sisters, Tina Chacon, Vikki Benally, Shawna Sena, and Sonya Valdez. His memory will be a guiding light for those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Robert began his career journey in 1980, mastering many trades over the years as a skilled Auto Body Technician, Auto Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Operator, and Landscaper. In October 1989, Robert joined the Laborers Union Local 16 out of Farmington, NM, dedicating over thirteen years of hard work there until December 2002. In January 2008, he joined the local Carpenters Union, working at area power plants. It was here that Robert truly found his professional passion, proudly serving as a Journeyman Carpenter until December 2012. Though a lifetime of heavy, labor-intensive work eventually took its toll on his body—leading to his retirement on disability in December 2018—he never lost his vibrant, resilient spirit.
Robert was best known for his quick wit and joking nature, always ready to light up a room with laughter. He possessed a rare, beautiful gift for bringing people together, and he was profoundly generous with anything he had to give, whether it was his time, his skills, or a helping hand.
Outside of work, Robert was a man of many talents and passions. An avid fisherman, he was always happiest casting a line, traveling to new places, or feeling the freedom of the open road on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. His hands were rarely still; he enjoyed drawing and loved working on vehicles, bringing his expertise in auto mechanics and auto body repair home to help anyone in need. Above all, Robert’s greatest joy came from the simple moments spent sharing stories, jokes, and quality time with his cherished family and friends.
A service to honor Robert's life will be held on October 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Victory Life Fellowship in To'Koi, NM. Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate the remarkable life of a man who touched so many hearts.
