Robert Christy Curtis

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Christy Curtis, affectionately known to many as Chris, who left this world peacefully on August 26, 2026, surrounded by his beloved family after a brief illness. Born on December 9, 1944, in Texas, Robert's life was a testament to dedication, warmth, and service. Robert was the cherished son of the late Earle Curtis and Catherine (nee Connolly). He was preceded in death by his parents and his dear sister, Catherine Jones, in 1987, and his father, Earle Curtis, in 2000. He leaves behind his loving wife of 30 years, Susan Curtis (Deckley), whom he married in 1996. Together, they moved to Southwest Florida, where they created a lifetime of joyful memories. He was a devoted father to his three children, Heather Lodge (Dan) and Melissa Clifton (Clifford, Jr.), and a proud grandfather to four grandchildren: Jillian Walukiewicz (Steven), Heather Ocasio (Christian), Clifford III (Victoria), April Clifton, and Corey Curtis. Robert also embraced the joy of being a great-grandfather to five wonderful great-grandchildren, whose futures carry the legacy of his love and kindness. Robert's life was marked by his honorable service to his country. He joined the US Navy from 1961 to 1965 and again from 1979 to 1984. Later, he served in the US Army Reserve as an Operating Room Technician, retiring in December 2004 with numerous awards and citations recognizing his significant military contributions. His dedication to service extended beyond his military career, as he worked as an Operating Room Technician at Naples Day Surgery in Naples, Florida, and later as the head of medical logistics at Bonita Health Center in Bonita Springs, Florida. A man of the community, Robert was an active member of the American Legion and the VFW in Punta Gorda, Florida. His passion for golf was well-known, and he found joy and camaraderie on the greens with friends and family. Robert's genuine warmth, kindness, and infectious smile endeared him to all who had the pleasure of meeting him. He was a man who truly understood the importance of family, friendship, and service. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the VA of Charlotte County for their kind recognition of Robert's service to his country. In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert's memory can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County. Robert Christy Curtis was a man whose life was rich with love, laughter, and purpose. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us.
