Born on July 12, 1960, in the humble town of Champaign, Robert's life was a testament to joy, resilience, and unwavering dedication to his family and community. Robert was the cherished son of David and Bertha Richardson, who instilled in him the values of kindness and perseverance. Though he faced the profound loss of his parents, grandparents, three brothers, one sister, and a nephew, Robert's capacity for love and laughter never wavered. His legacy lives on through his devoted wife, Barbara, with whom he shared 45 beautiful years of marriage, having been together for a total of 48 years. Their love was a beacon of strength and commitment that inspired all who knew them. Robert was a proud and loving father to his son, Dewayne, and daughter, Allison. He found immense joy and fulfillment in his role as a grandfather to Brandy, Jonathan, Mariah, Luke, April, and Lita, and as a great-grandfather to Aubree and Serenity. His home was always filled with laughter, punctuated by his infectious smile and his ability to joke and play with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Throughout his career, Robert was known for his dedication and work ethic as he drove for many cab companies, connecting with countless individuals across the community. His passengers often left his cab with a smile, thanks to his warm nature and sense of humor. His love for fishing was well-known among family and friends, often spending cherished moments by the water, basking in the tranquility of the outdoors. A private funeral ceremony was held on September 19, 2026, at 11:30, allowing family and close friends to gather in an intimate setting to honor a life well-lived. The family expresses their deepest gratitude to Carle Hospital for their compassionate care and effort during Robert's final days. While Robert's departure leaves a void in our hearts, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us.
