It is with heavy hearts and profound appreciation for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Robert Carl Clemons, who departed this world on June 4, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on November 30, 1941, in the heart of Pitt County, North Carolina, Robert was a beacon of love, strength, and unwavering dedication to family and faith.
Robert was the cherished son of the late Lee Arthur Clemons and Lou Ella Powell, whose values and teachings he carried throughout his life. He was predeceased by his loving daughter, Susie C. Clemons, and siblings William, Lee Arthur Jr., Bobby, Alexander, Lee Arthur aka. Bud!, Carrie Ann, Ernestine, Lou Ella, and Vivian Jean, along with his brother-in-law Eddie Simmons and his special nephew Romeo. Despite the heartache of these losses, Robert's spirit remains forever in ourchearts.
Robert leaves behind a legacy of enduring love and companionship with his beloved wife of 25 years, Charrie Clemons. He was a devoted stepfather to Terrence (Jessica) and Jeryn (Dawn), and a proud grandfather to Brielle, Mekhi, and Jamir. He is also survived by his brothers David Earl, Ronald (Dorothy), Murray (Deborah), and Isaiah (Linda), as well as his brother-in-law Willie Thomas, and a host of nephews, great-nephews, nieces, great-nieces, cousins, and friends. Special gratitude is extended to his devoted friend Dennis Crowley, whose unwavering support and assistance brought comfort during challenging times.
Robert's journey in education began and concluded at Bethel High School in Pitt County, N.C., where he laid the foundation for a life of hard work and dedication. A true testament to the phrase "BMW - Black Man Working," Robert devoted 27 years as Captain of Security at Beekman New York Downstate Hospital and 15 years as a Security Supervisor at New York Law School. He retired with pride from both esteemed positions, having left an indelible mark on his colleagues and community.
A man of faith, Robert confessed his devotion to Jesus Christ as a young boy and continued to nurture his spiritual journey at Jesus the Christ Church in Stroudsburg, PA. He furthered his commitment to his faith at Salt of the Earth Ministries in East Stroudsburg, PA, where he served diligently under the leadership of Bishop Robert L. Williams Jr., ensuring the House of the Lord was always clean and welcoming.
In retirement, Robert embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. He and Charrie delighted in the simple pleasures of life, from cruises and trips to the laughter shared in their Poconos home. An avid handyman, Robert relished the role of Dr. Cliff Huxtable, 😆 hammer, nails, drill guns became his new career.His love for a well-maintained car was legendary, as he kept their vehicle in pristine condition, always washed, waxed, and shining.
Robert's life was a testament to love, humor, and the enduring bonds of family. Though a man of few words, his presence spoke volumes. He shared a special camaraderie with his brothers, his laughter and humor lighting up every room. The Clemons brothers were inseparable, a testament to the deep familial bonds that Robert cherished and nurtured with his brothers and sisters as well. Their shared memories and laughter were a source of joy and inspiration to their nieces and nephews, who cherished their stories and playful teasing.
In celebrating the life of Robert Carl Clemons, we honor a man whose legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. A service to commemorate his life will be held on June 11, 2026, where family and friends will gather to celebrate the remarkable journey of a truly extraordinary man.
