Robert Campbell Haynie
September 13, 1953 — June 2, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Robert Campbell Haynie, who left this world on June 2, 2026, at his home in Columbus, Ohio, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on September 13, 1953, Robert's journey began in Columbus, Ohio, where he was welcomed by his loving parents, Harold C. Haynie and Sara C. Haynie (Crawford).
Robert was a beacon of wisdom and patience, a man who wore many hats throughout his life, but most notably, he was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He shared an incredible love story with his beloved wife, Joyce A. Haynie (Plummer), with whom he celebrated 52 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering support.
A proud graduate of Dublin, Ohio High School, Class of 1971, Robert thrived in his career as an auto mechanic, earning the distinguished title of ASE Certified Master Mechanic. His hands skillfully repaired countless vehicles over the years, a testament to his dedication and expertise.
Robert's passions extended far beyond his work. He was an avid rail road enthusiast, a fascination that began in his childhood and continued throughout his life, with his most recent train journey just four weeks ago. He was also a collector at heart, cherishing comic books and stamps, and found joy in model railroading. His sharp mind and love for general knowledge quizzing made him a cherished companion for any intellectual pursuit.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce, his devoted son, Ronald M. Haynie, and daughter-in-law, Wendy L. Haynie (Bayes). Robert was the proud grandfather of three grandchildren: Keagan L. Haynie, and twins Ethan C. Haynie and Evan M. Haynie, who brought immense joy to his life.
Robert joins in eternal rest his parents, Harold and Sara, and his siblings, Emily Haynie (Cone) and Robert R. Haynie, who predeceased him.
A celebration of Robert's life will be held on June 8, 2026, at 4:00 PM at the Ingram & Snyder Funeral Home, located at 975 N. Maple Street. Family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched are invited to gather and honor the memory of a man whose life was a testament to love, commitment, and resilience.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Ohio Railroad Museum, a place close to Robert's heart. Contributions can be made at https://www.ohiorailwaymuseum.org/.
The Haynie family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital and all caregivers who provided comfort and care during Robert's battle with cancer.
Robert Campbell Haynie's legacy is one of love, knowledge, and quiet strength. He leaves behind a family enriched by his presence and a world made better by his kindness and dedication. He will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
