August 13, 1968 — August 1, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert "Cam" Reed, a cherished son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, on August 1, 2026. Born on August 13, 1968, in Atlanta, Georgia, Cam lived a life of service, dedication, and love, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Cam was the beloved son of Robert O'Neal and Barbara Reed, who raised him with enduring values and a strong sense of community. He was predeceased by his sister, Carmen Reed, and his grandparents, LeMerle and Floyd Vines, and Audrey Milam, whose memories were always treasures to him. In 1992, Cam began his distinguished career with the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office, where he dedicated himself to the safety and well-being of his community. His passion for traffic safety and his relentless advocacy for seatbelt use led him to the Governor's Office of Highway Safety, where he served as the Law Enforcement Liaison in 2024. Cam was known for his unwavering commitment to teaching the importance of safety, always striving to make the world a safer place for everyone. Above all, Cam's family was the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his devoted wife, Kristie Reed, who stood by his side through life's journey. His son, Robert Tyler Reed, along with his daughter-in-law, Katarine Schmitt, brought him immense joy and pride. Cam's grandchildren, Oakley, Daniel, and Berkley Reed, were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. His extended family includes his cherished nieces and nephews: Rob and Lauren Lipovsky, Christopher Bowen, Gregory Bowen, Morgan Hawkins, Bennett Cook, and Owen Cook. Cam was also blessed with the love and support of his mother-in-law, Christine Downie, father-in-law, Donald Cook, brother-in-law, Steve Cook, and sister-in-law, Lauren Cook. Cam's presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, dedication, and service will continue to inspire those who knew him. In his honor, donations may be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting the spirit of giving and care that Cam embodied throughout his life. As we bid farewell to a remarkable man, we celebrate the life he lived and the countless lives he touched. Cam's memory will forever remain in our hearts, and his spirit will guide us as we continue to strive for the safety and well-being of our communities.
