December 2, 1961 — October 12, 2026

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Brian "Bull" Black, who left this world on October 12, 2026, surrounded by his cherished family at home. Born on December 2, 1961, in Rock Hill, South Carolina, Robert lived a life full of love, dedication, and passion. Robert, known affectionately as "Bull" by those who knew him well, was the proud son of Robert Black and Ollie Edio Munn Black. He is now reunited with his beloved parents and his brother, William Creighton, in eternal peace. A devoted family man, Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Sturkey "Marty" Black, who was his soulmate and steadfast companion in life. Together, they built a family that was the source of Robert's greatest pride and joy. He leaves behind two sons, Robert Brian "Jay" Black Jr., married to Meredith, and Bradford Lee Black, married to Kelsey. His legacy lives on through his adored grandchildren, Payton, Grayson, Mavery, and Gavin, who brought light and laughter into his life. Robert shared a close bond with his sisters, Cheryl Pettus, Ann Cooper, and Cathy Matthews, who held a special place in his heart. His family would not be complete without his beloved dogs, Lillith and Trudy, and the many horses he cared for with great affection. A proud graduate of Rock Hill High School, Robert continued his education by attending college, further enriching his knowledge and skills. For over 40 years, he dedicated himself to his work as a machinist at Rockwell International/Meritor, where he was known for his strong work ethic and unwavering commitment. Away from work, Robert found joy in simple pleasures. He was an avid lover of western movies, with a particular fondness for Clint Eastwood films. His love for horses and horseback riding was mirrored by his passion for fishing, hobbies that allowed him to connect with nature and find peace. Robert faced a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, demonstrating strength and resilience that inspired all who knew him. Throughout his journey, his love for his family remained a guiding light, and he cherished every moment spent with them. In memory of Robert Brian "Bull" Black, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, in honor of his brave fight against cancer. Robert's kindness, humor, and love will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we bid farewell to a remarkable man, we celebrate a life well-lived and find comfort in the memories he leaves behind. May he rest in peace.
