We gather today to celebrate the life and honor the memory of Robert 'Brandon' David Sims, Jr., a devoted husband, son, brother, and friend, who left this world on July 24, 2019, after a valiant battle with cancer. Brandon departed this life surrounded by love at his home in Katy, Texas, at the age of 61.
Born on January 14, 1958, in the picturesque town of Niagara Falls, New York, Brandon was the cherished son of Robert David Sr. and Doreen Siciliano Sims. His early years in Niagara Falls were filled with the warmth of family and the promise of a life that would touch many. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan Sims, whose memory he always treasured, his paternal grandfather, Robert D. Sims, Sr., and his maternal grandmother, Rose Siciliano. Their spirits now join him in eternal peace.
Brandon’s life was a testament to love and dedication. He married his soul mate, Susan, on June 18, 1988, in Niagara Falls, New York. Their union was a beacon of love and friendship, spanning 31 beautiful years, characterized by laughter, unwavering support, and quiet strength. Together, they built a life of devotion that continues to inspire all who knew them.
A proud alumnus of Niagara Falls High School, Brandon pursued higher education with zeal, earning his bachelor’s degree in education from the State University of New York at Buffalo, followed by a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Houston. His educational journey was driven by a deep-seated passion for nurturing young minds and fostering a love for learning.
Brandon served his country with honor in the U.S. Navy from 1975 to 1982, embracing the values of service and commitment that would define every facet of his life. After his military service, he dedicated 20 years to the field of education, leaving an indelible mark as both an educator and a school principal. His leadership and compassion made a profound difference in the lives of countless students and colleagues.
In his personal life, Brandon found joy in the simple pleasures. Whether casting a line into tranquil waters, strumming his guitar, perfecting his golf swing, or basking in the ocean’s embrace, he embraced life’s moments with enthusiasm. His spirit was a blend of strength and gentleness, a combination that endeared him to everyone he met.
Brandon leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his devoted parents, Robert and Doreen Sims of Niagara Falls, New York; his sisters, Elaine Wilson and her husband Bryan of Roseville, California, and Lori Litzinger and her husband Terry of Katy, Texas; his cherished fur-baby, Maggie Mae; and a host of relatives and friends who were touched by his kindness and warmth.
