Robert "Bobby" Cox

April 8, 1984 — July 4, 2026

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Robert "Bobby" Cox, who departed this world on July 4, 2026, after a courageous battle with illness. Bobby was born in Victoria, Texas, on April 8, 1984, to Robert Hylton Cox and Tina Lee Voyles. From his earliest days, Bobby's vibrant spirit and zest for life were evident to all who knew him. Bobby was a proud graduate of Katy High School and continued his education at Ranger College. His passion for serving his country led him to enlist in the U.S. Army Special Forces, where he served with distinction from May 25, 2006, until January 9, 2022. During his tenure, he bravely participated in the Global War on Terrorism and operations in Afghanistan, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and commanders alike. After retiring from the military, Bobby channeled his skills and dedication into a career at SpaceX, where he continued to inspire those around him. A man of many talents, Bobby loved bright colors, sports, and video games. His musical prowess shone through in his guitar playing and performances with his band, "Demoted." Surfing and skateboarding were among his favorite pastimes, as was spending cherished moments with his beloved service dog, Lucy. Above all, Bobby treasured his role as a father to his daughter, Violet Lee Cox. She was his world, and he embraced every moment of fatherhood, from learning about fashion and colors to mastering the art of hair and nail care, all under Violet's expert guidance. Bobby is survived by his daughter, Violet Lee Cox; his mother and stepfather, Tina Cox - Jackson and Lee Jackson, Jr.; his brother and sister-in-law, Matthew and Rosa Cox; his aunt, Sandi Kissinger; and his cousins, Crystal and Tara. He also leaves behind his loving wife, Katarina Jancova, with whom he shared countless beautiful memories. Bobby was predeceased by his father, Robert Cox; his grandparents, Hylton and Dorothy Cox, and Walter and Estelline Voyles; and his aunt, Shanan Kubala. A service to celebrate Bobby's life will be held on July 16, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Schmidt Funeral Home, located at 1344 West Grand Parkway South, Katy, TX 77494. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice, in honor of Bobby's generous and giving nature. Robert "Bobby" Cox will be remembered for his boundless enthusiasm, his unwavering love for his family, and his indomitable spirit. Though his time with us was far too short, the impact he made on our lives will endure forever. May he rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
