In Loving Memory

Robert (Bob)
October 27, 1933 — October 21, 2026
Robert "Bob" Knuth, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a cherished friend, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2026, after a short illness. Born on October 27, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois, Bob lived a life that was as vibrant and full as the city where he was born.
Bob was the son of Irwin and Irene (Gildea) Knuth, who instilled in him values of service and dedication, which he carried throughout his life. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army Paratroopers, where his courage and commitment were evident to all who served alongside him.
Following his military service, Bob dedicated his life to protecting and serving others as a firefighter with the Chicago Fire Department. His career was marked by bravery and innovation as he took on roles such as a scuba diver and later, as a Lieutenant Fire Inspector. Bob's colleagues remember him as a man of great integrity and tenacity, always ready to lend his expertise and support.
A man of many passions, Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman, often finding peace and joy in the great outdoors. His artistic talents were also well-known, and he was an enthusiastic painter, finding beauty and expression in every brushstroke.
Bob was a lifelong member of the NRA, The Shriners, and the Scottish Rite, communities that benefited greatly from his involvement and generosity. His life was a testament to his strong values and his dedication to causes larger than himself.
He is survived by his loving children, Diane (Mark Kos) Knuth, Amy Knuth, Kristine Turano, and Kimberly (Mauro) Puccini. Bob's legacy is carried on by his 13 grandchildren: Mercedes, Jonathon (Jessica), Nicholas (Melanie), Luca, Matteo, Tessa, Isabeau, Lochlan, and Inara, as well as his treasured great-grandchildren, Olivia and Eleanor. He was predeceased by his parents and his grandson, Robert Kole, whose memories will always be cherished by the family.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Hospice Alliance for the compassionate care Bob received in his final days. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Shriners, an organization that was dear to Bob's heart.
Bob's life was a mosaic of love, service, and adventure, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will forever be a blessing to his family and friends.
