In Loving Memory of Robert (Bob) Logan
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Logan on April 14, 2026, after a short stay in hospital. Born on June 21, 1954, in Winnipeg, Bob's vibrant life touched many and left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Bob was the cherished son of the late Francis and William King Logan III, and the beloved brother to his predeceased sister, Barbara. He was married to the love of his life, Candace Lee Gates, on June 14, 1977, sharing years of joy and companionship until her passing in 2003. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and a welcoming home that echoed with warmth and kindness.
A proud graduate of Churchill High School, Class of 1971, Bob carved out a distinguished career in the field of Information Technology. His journey from a programmer to a project manager at numerous companies stands as a testament to his dedication, intelligence, and leadership. Beyond his professional achievements, Bob was a beacon of joy and camaraderie, known for his quick wit and ability to bring smiles to those around him.
Bob's life was a beautiful melody, enriched by his love for music. An active member of Grey Street United Church and a proud participant in the World Gospel Choir, he found solace and passion in singing. Whether harmonizing with his sister or lifting his voice in a larger choir setting, music was his soul's expression.
An avid sports enthusiast, Bob's loyalty to Winnipeg's sports teams, particularly the Jets and Bombers, was unwavering. Conversations with him often turned into spirited discussions about the latest game, his eyes lighting up with enthusiasm. His love for golf, despite his legendary hook that often found the wrong fairway, was a source of endless stories and laughter shared with family and friends.
Bob's legacy is carried forward by his three children: Geoffrey (Kendra), Ashleigh (Riley), and Derek (Dom), who embody his kindness and humor. His six grandchildren, Tyler, Owen, Jack, Lucas, Maya, and the eagerly anticipated arrival of a new grandchild, were the lights of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Bob's gentle spirit, characterized by his kindness and welcoming nature, was a gift to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His ability to make everyone feel at ease and valued is a quality that will be sorely missed. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at St. Boniface Hospital's cardiac care unit for their compassionate care during his final days.
As we celebrate Bob's life, we remember a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and laughed heartily. Though he has left this world, the legacy of his love and laughter endures in the hearts of family and friends.
A service to honor and remember Bob will be held at Grey Street United Church, where we will gather to share memories and celebrate the life of an extraordinary man. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Bob's name, spreading kindness and joy as he did throughout his life.
Rest in peace, dear Bob. You are forever loved and never forgotten.
