Mills, a cherished father, brother, grandfather, and friend, who departed this world on March 5, 2026, just a day shy of his 84th birthday. Born in the vibrant city of Pittsburgh, PA, on March 6, 1942, Bob was a beacon of kindness and inspiration to all who knew him.
Bob was the beloved son of the late James and Dorothy Mills, whose love and values shaped the remarkable man he became. He is predeceased by his parents but leaves behind a legacy through his family, including his devoted sister, Marion Handcock. He is survived by his loving daughter, Jacqueline Crowley, and her husband, James Crowley, who were the center of his world. Bob was also the proud grandfather to Jayme Porter Ricketts, whom he adored and cherished.
From a young age, Bob demonstrated an unwavering commitment to service and education. After serving his country with honor in the United States Marine Corps from 1961 to 1967, he pursued his passion for teaching. Bob obtained his master's degree in education from the University of Wyoming, a testament to his dedication to learning and bettering the lives of others. He went on to inspire countless young minds as a fifth-grade teacher at Livingston Elementary School in Cody, Wyoming, where he devoted 27 years of his life. His warm presence and encouraging spirit left an indelible mark on the students and colleagues who had the privilege of knowing him.
Beyond his professional life, Bob found solace and joy in the great outdoors. An avid fisherman, hiker, and hunter, he embraced the beauty and tranquility of nature at every opportunity. His love for flying was a particular passion, and he fulfilled a lifelong dream by purchasing his own plane, allowing him to explore the breathtaking aerial views around Cody with a sense of wonder and adventure.
Bob's life was a testament to the virtues of kindness, generosity, and resilience. His infectious smile and gentle demeanor touched the hearts of many, and his legacy will continue to live on through the lives he enriched.
