Robert "Bob" Footen

It is with heavy hearts and deep respect that we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Footen, a cherished brother, uncle, and friend, who left this world peacefully on March 29, 2026, at UPMC Western Maryland. Born on April 18, 1954, in Frostburg, MD, Bob was a beacon of kindness and strength, a man whose laughter could light up a room and whose gentle spirit touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Bob was the beloved son of the late William and Delores (Jeffries) Footen. He shared a close bond with his family, and though he was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Bill Footen, the love he had for them continued to shine brightly throughout his life. He is survived by his caring sister, Kathy Footen Winebrenner, who stood by him in every joy and sorrow. His legacy also lives on through his nieces, Tammy Bittinger, and her husband, Rodney, and Kerri Footen, as well as his great nieces and nephews, Josh Bittinger, Daniel Bittinger, Addisen Bittinger, Carlie Bohrer, and Javas Bohrer. Bob's beloved cat, Freddie, will miss his gentle hand and loving presence. A proud graduate of Beall High School, Bob exemplified dedication and hard work. He spent over 50 years in housing management and the construction industry, where he made a name for himself as a respected contractor. Bob was the proud owner of Footen Construction, a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to quality. Outside of his professional life, Bob found joy and tranquility in nature. The Potomac River was his sanctuary, where he loved to fish and camp at Milleson's Mill Campground. An avid gardener, Bob had a particular fondness for growing tomatoes, savoring their taste as a symbol of summer's bounty. His garden was more than just a hobby; it was a reflection of his nurturing soul and his appreciation for life's simple pleasures. Bob was blessed with lifelong friendships that he cherished deeply. His friends were like family, and he was a steadfast companion, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand. His warmth and generosity left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to call him a friend. A memorial service to celebrate Bob's life will be held on April 26, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Durst Funeral Home, located at 57 Frost Ave, Frostburg, MD 21532. Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories of a man who brought so much joy to the world. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at UPMC Western Maryland High Level Care for their excellent and compassionate care during Bob's final days. Their kindness and dedication provided comfort and peace to both Bob and his loved ones. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Bob's memory to a charity of choice, continuing his legacy of generosity and love. As we say goodbye to Bob, we hold on to the memories, the laughter, and the love he shared with us. His spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him, reminding us that a life well-lived leaves a legacy of love. Rest in peace, dear Bob.
