Robert (Bob, Bobby) Lee Grissom was born to John Raymond Grissom and Bessie Caldonia (Bailey) Grissom on December 31, 1939 at General Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Ruth (Lake) Grissom, wife Beulah (Parr) Grissom, sister Ethel Jean (Grissom) Alfred, brother James Grissom, sister Dorothy (Grissom) Thomas, brother Charles (Dick) Grissom, brother Raymond Grissom.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy (Johnson) Grissom, his son Joseph Grissom and wife Scherrill Kennedy-Grissom, son Charles Grissom, son Robin Grissom and wife April (McCullough) Grissom, daughter Cynthia Grissom, daughter Theresa Grissom, son John Grissom and wife Kathy (Silva) Grissom, his youngest brother Mr & Mrs Ronald Grissom, fifteen grandchildren, and a multitude of great-grandchildren!
Robert left his earthly home in a beautiful and glorious fashion! At the urging of his youngest brother we all gathered around him, there in the hospital, and laid our hands on him and prayed. When our prayer was done and Amen said Dad took his last breath, and his heart beat its last beat at Freeman West Hospital September 10, 2026 at 10:14 AM and God welcomed him home!
At the ripe young age of sixteen Robert began his life adventures by hopping trains and headed out west. Out west he picked fruit, was a volunteer firefighter, and various sundries of jobs all of which helped build marvelous stories that he told to anyone who wanted to listen! When he came back to Missouri (after making his millions!) he met a beautiful, little redhead named Ruth. They fell in love, got married, and out of that love six children were born.
Robert moved his family to Topeka, Kansas and remained there for seven years. While in Topeka Robert worked at Topeka Tent & Awning Co. making large tents and awnings. He enjoyed sewing so much that he always had a machine at home and did much sewing there! Robert then moved his family back to Joplin and in Joplin he worked for Eagle Picher Industries as a forklift operator until his retirement.
Robert had many passions in his life, along with the love for his family, his love for his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, his country, fishing, coon hunting, stained glass art, and a bit of photography.

Death Is Nothing at All
Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
that we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name,
speak to me in the easy way
which you always used.
Put no difference in your tone,
wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was;
there is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you,
for an interval,
somewhere very near,
just round the corner.
All is well.
