In Loving Memory of Robert A. Robinson It is with a heavy heart and profound respect that we announce the passing of Robert A. Robinson, who departed this world peacefully on July 4, 2026, at Piedmont Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 15, 1939, in Lancaster, South Carolina, Rob, as he was affectionately known, lived a life full of love, dedication, and service to others. Rob was the beloved son of the late Rev. James E. Robinson and Lelia (Cousar) Robinson. He was predeceased by his cherished parents, his brothers Charlie, Dan Lee, David, Rudolph, James, Theophus, Sammy, and William, and his sisters Emma and Lelia. Despite this great loss, the legacy of love and warmth he shared with his family endures. He is survived by his devoted wife, Shirley Crawford Robinson, with whom he shared a remarkable and loving marriage for 60 years. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and friendship, inspiring everyone who knew them. Rob leaves behind his two sons, Eric Robinson (Sonja) of Atlanta, GA, and Darrell Robinson, and his daughter Rhonda McMillon (Robert) of Rock Hill, SC. He is also survived by his brother, Walter Robinson (Colorado Springs, CO) and his sister-in-law, Ruth C. Robinson. His legacy continues with his five grandchildren, Darius Robinson, Cameron McMillon, Tyler Robinson, Justin McMillon, and Lafayette Chavis, and his two great-grandchildren, Jayden Robinson and Kamari Robinson. Rob was a man of faith and commitment. He graduated from Barr Street High School in 1968 and furthered his education at York Technical College in 1972. He served his country with pride in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963. Rob dedicated 29 years to Spring Bleachery, and later, he owned and operated Robinson Trucking for 13 years, also spending several years driving for LARS. A hard-working man through and through Rob believed in earning an honest living and setting an example through dedication and perseverance. A devoted member of Red Hill Baptist Church, Rob was active in his community and a member of Reed Lodge #195 for over 40 years. Rob was a man whose words could always be trusted his wisdom and insight, guided family and friends through life‘s joys and challenges. His thoughtful advice left a lasting impact on those who sought it. As an avid fisherman of Springs Park, Dutchman Creek Bear Creek and the sea, he found both purpose and peace on the water. The water reflected his character, steady, resilient, and full of quiet, wisdom and strength. He cherished moments spent watching his grandsons play baseball and football and loved traveling across many states. Rob was known for his generous spirit and willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need. His kindness and dedication to others will forever be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him. His life was a blessing, his memory, a treasure, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever. A service to honor and celebrate Rob’s life will be held on July 10, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Red Hill Baptist Church, located at 2020 Red Hill Road, Lancaster, SC 29720. The Robinson family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Piedmont Medical Center for their compassionate care and to all family and friends for their loving expressions of support during this time of bereavement. Rob’s memory will forever remain in our hearts, and his legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire us all. May he rest in eternal peace.
