It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Johnson, Sr. a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Robert departed this life on July 10, 2026, at the age of 68, leaving behind a legacy filled with love, honor, and cherished memories. Born on August 1, 1957, in Monroe, Louisiana, Robert was the beloved son of Mary and M.J. Johnson. His early life in Monroe was filled with the warmth and support of family, traits that he carried throughout his life. He graduated from Mangham High School in 1976, where he formed enduring friendships and developed a strong sense of duty and honor. Embodying a spirit of service, Robert enlisted in the United States Marines immediately after high school. He served his country with distinction for seven years, earning the rank of Corporal. His time in the Marines was a testament to his dedication, resilience, and unfailing commitment to the values he held dear. Robert was predeceased by his brother, Howard Queen, and his cherished daughter, Shaina Johnson. His memory will be carried on by his devoted wife, Cora Johnson, whose unwavering support was a cornerstone of his life. Together, they built a family that was the pride and joy of Robert’s existence. He is survived by his son, Robert Johnson Jr., and his wife, Elia, of Palmdale, California, as well as his daughters, Kalenna and Alanna Johnson of California, and Breneshia Johnson and Cierra Jones of Monroe, Louisiana. Robert was a proud grandfather to five beautiful grandchildren: Matthew, Maya, Jada, and Willow Johnson of Palmdale, and Princeton Johnson of Monroe. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he relished every moment spent with them, imparting wisdom and love. Robert is also survived by his brothers, Jeffery Johnson and his wife Debra of Monroe, and Otis Johnson of Rayville, Louisiana. Charlie Johnson, Lora, James Johnson, of Mangham, La. Henry Baker of Fairbanks, Alaska, Walter Baker, and Melvin Joe Harris of Rayville, La. Sisters, Lula Johnson-Ferrand (Dante), Connie Johnson-Butler (George), Betty Beeman, of Chicago, IL, Sallie Johnson of Winnsboro, La, His brothers remember him as a steadfast and caring sibling whose presence brought comfort and joy. A celebration of Robert's life will be held on July 18, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Peaceful Rest Funeral Home, located at 1724 N Louisa St. in Rayville, Louisiana. Friends and family are invited to gather and pay their respects, sharing stories and memories of a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in honor of Robert’s generous spirit and commitment to helping others. Robert Johnson will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his dedication to his country, and his ability to touch the hearts of all who knew him. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will forever live on in the lives he touched.
