It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert "RJ" Givens, who was welcomed into this world on September 17, 2008, in Syracuse, NY, and was called to eternal rest on July 3, 2026. RJ was a beacon of joy and compassion, whose presence illuminated the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him. RJ was the cherished son of Janesha Peterson, who survives him. He was predeceased by his beloved siblings, sister Zaki Givens, brother Kaleel Givens, sister Kyrasha Givens, and his devoted father, Andrew Givens. RJ's departure leaves a void in the lives of his family and friends, but his spirit remains an everlasting source of inspiration and love. In his 17 years, RJ displayed remarkable kindness and an infectious smile that could brighten any room. He was educated at Cicero-North Syracuse High School and was furthering his studies at Randolph Community College. RJ had an insatiable curiosity and a thirst for knowledge, which he pursued with passion and dedication. RJ's passing is a tremendous loss, but his legacy of love and laughter endures. "When Tomorrow Starts Without Me" is a sentiment that embodies RJ's outlook on life and the impact he had on those around him. He was a soul whose memory will live on in every heart he touched. RJ encouraged all who knew him to carry his smile within their hearts and to speak his name with pride, knowing that he will always be by their side. A service to honor and celebrate RJ’s life will be held on July 13, 2026, at 10:49 a.m. at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, located at 408 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Greensboro, NC. Friends, family, and all who wish to pay their respects are warmly invited to join in this celebration of RJ’s life.
