Rito Villa
April 27, 1948 — June 18, 2026
Rito Villa, born on April 27, 1948, in Vado, New Mexico, passed away peacefully at home on June 18, 2026, at the age of 78. His departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Rito was the beloved son of the late Victoriana Hernandez, and he was preceded in death by his cherished siblings: brothers Federico and Guadalupe Villa, and sisters Francisca Baca, Maria Ontiveros, Vicenta Villa, and Esperanza Villa. Despite these immense losses, Rito remained a pillar of strength and warmth for his family, a testament to his enduring spirit and unyielding love.
A proud alumnus of Mayfield High School, Rito answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the Navy, where he served from 1969 to 1973, including a tour in the Vietnam War. Upon returning, his unwavering dedication led him to enlist in the Army, rising to the rank of Sergeant. His pride in his military service was a defining aspect of his character, embodying a lifetime of honor and duty to his nation.
Rito married his beloved wife, Jessica Holguin, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on April 27, 2010. Their 16-year union was marked by love, laughter, and companionship. Together, they built a family filled with warmth and affection, raising their son Isaac Villa, who, at 14, was the apple of Rito's eye. Rito was also a devoted father to his children, Rito Villa Jr., Nydia Villa, and Perla Ramirez, all of whom carry forward his legacy of kindness and integrity.
Rito was blessed with four grandchildren, each a joy and testament to the family he cherished. His role as a grandfather was one he held dearly, bringing him immense pride and happiness.
Throughout his career, Rito dedicated many years to the United States Postal Service in Albuquerque, from where he eventually retired. His colleagues and friends at USPS remember him for his unwavering work ethic and his ability to uplift those around him with his infectious humor and warm smile.
Rito's life was enriched by his love for family gatherings, vacations, and the camaraderie of friends. He was a familiar face at the local casino, where he enjoyed many an evening. His passion for golf and pool was well-known, and he was often found on the green or at the table, sharing stories and laughter.
In remembering Rito, we celebrate a man who was a wonderful father and a devoted husband. Known for his charm, he was indeed a "ladies' man," a label he wore with a twinkle in his eye and a grin. His family and friends will forever remember him for his generosity, love, and the extraordinary lengths to which he would go to support his children and loved ones.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Ambercare Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion provided to Rito in his final days. Their support brought comfort and dignity to his journey's end.
As we gather to honor Rito's life, we do so with love and gratitude, celebrating a life well-lived and a legacy that will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. Rest in peace, Rito Villa, knowing you were deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
