Rita Gentile, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully passed away of natural causes on September 4, 2026, at the age of 99. Born on December 27, 1926, in Yonkers, NY, Rita lived a life characterized by love, kindness, and devotion to her family and community. Rita was the cherished daughter of John DiCola and Ida Scipioni. She grew up in a loving family alongside her siblings, and maintained a close bond with her surviving sister, Emma Esposito. She was predeceased by her husband, Hans Gentile Sr., with whom she shared a beautiful and enduring marriage of over 54 years until his passing in 2001. Their union was blessed with two loving children, Joanne (Dale) Larson and Hans (Debra) Gentile, Jr., who carry forward her legacy of warmth and compassion. As a dedicated seamstress at Vin-Ann in Yonkers, NY, Rita was known for her meticulous work and gentle demeanor. Her colleagues and clients cherished her not only for her skills but for her soft-spoken and kind-hearted nature. Rita's family was the cornerstone of her life. She delighted in spending time with her six grandchildren—Thomas Coulson, Michelle (Thomas) DeVivo, Denise (Frank) Servello, Hans (Cortnee) Gentile III, Jennifer (Susan) Larson, and Jason Larson—each of whom brought immense joy to her days. Her love extended to her twelve great-grandchildren, who will forever hold memories of their great-grandmother's nurturing spirit and boundless love. Beyond her family, Rita touched the lives of many with her compassion and gentle kindness. She was a beacon of love and understanding, always ready to lend a listening ear or a comforting word to those in need. Her family-oriented approach to life was a testament to her belief in the power of love and togetherness. Rita's life will be celebrated at a service on September 9, 2026, at 9:00 AM at the Waterbury and Kelly Funeral Home, located on Pleasantville Road in Briarcliff Manor, NY.
