Rita Ciulla

November 10, 1947 — August 10, 2026

The world has lost a shining light with the peaceful passing of Rita Ciulla on August 10, 2026, at her cherished home in Covington, Louisiana. Born on November 10, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York, Rita was a vibrant soul whose infectious smile and positive attitude left an indelible mark on all who had the fortune to know her. Rita was a devoted daughter to the late Albert and Myrtle Paganini and a beloved wife to her late husband, Marion Ciulla, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and dedication. Together, they built a beautiful family, and Rita's legacy lives on through her daughter, Annette Ciulla Barrios, and her husband, Andre. She was the proud and loving grandmother to Austin, Aiden, Adelaide, and Andre, who brought immense joy to her life. Her siblings, Emil Paganini (Loretta), Theresa Brier (Burgess), and Marian Paganini, shared deep bonds with Rita, who was always the heart of family gatherings. Rita extended her nurturing spirit to many she loved like her own children, including AnnaMarie Meyers (Ricky), Joey Ciulla (Paula), Jeffrey Meyers (Kristy), Lindsay Meyers, Victoria Welt (Grant), Leslie Smith (Josh), Caden Meyers, Bennett Meyers, Cooper Smith, Rylee Belk, and Zach Lauro. Rita's career as an Analyst with the US Customs Border Patrol was marked by dedication and professionalism, but it was after her retirement, 18 years ago, that she truly flourished in her role as a matriarch, friend, and community member. Known for her lively spirit, Rita found joy in every moment and taught those around her the power of laughter, even in the face of life's challenges. Her selflessness and focus on others were evident in the way she lived her life, touching countless hearts along the way. A memorial service to honor Rita's life will be held on August 15, 2026, at Bagnell Funeral Home, located at 75212 Highway 437, Covington, LA 70435. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Northshore Oncology Associates, an organization close to Rita's heart. The Ciulla family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Carolyn Montz and Beth Naquin for their unwavering support and care during Rita's final days. Rita's light will continue to shine through the love she gave and the memories she created, leaving a legacy of joy, compassion, and resilience.
