Ricky Gibb Smith

March 10, 1955 — February 16, 2026

Ricky Gibb Smith, a cherished father, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, at Advent Health Orlando, a consequence of a sudden blood clot in his heart. He was born on March 10, 1955, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Benny and Georgia Smith, who, along with his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and many cousins, predeceased him. Ricky's journey through life was marked by a steadfast dedication to family, friendship, and community. Ricky's legacy continues through the lives of his beloved children, Adam and Kristy Smith of Clermont, Florida, Ian Smith of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Benjamin Smith of Edmond, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his devoted sister, Jona, and her husband Jeff Cantrell of Tonkawa, Oklahoma, as well as his niece, Josyln Cantrell, and nephew, Blay Cantrell, and wife. Ricky’s influence spans generations, including his grandson Derek Richmond and wife Aleann Richmond, and his great-grandson Greyson Richmond, all of whom will carry forward the warmth and wisdom he imparted. Educated at Blackwell High School and Northern Oklahoma College, Ricky carved out a successful career as an IT Specialist with Conoco Phillips, where he eventually retired. His professional contributions were matched by his unwavering commitment to personal connections and community service. As a dedicated member of East Cross Church in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and a long-time member of the Elks, Ricky's life was a testament to his belief in service and togetherness. Ricky was a man of many passions. Whether tending to his garden or sharing its bounty with loved ones, he found joy in nurturing both plants and people. His love for music was palpable, and concerts were a cherished pastime, often shared with his dear friend Corey, his right hand in many adventures. Together with Kristie Frye, Ricky indulged in his love for plant shopping and culinary exploration, always finding joy in the simplest of pleasures. Even when Gary, who wasn't particularly fond of plant shopping, joined in, it was for the promise of a good meal and another story to tell. Blessed with a quick wit and a warm smile, Ricky had an innate ability to make everyone feel at home. He was known for his jokes and his genuine interest in those around him. His kindness and generosity left an indelible mark on countless lives, and he was a friend to all who crossed his path. Ricky knew no stranger, a testament to his open heart and welcoming spirit. In accordance with Ricky's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor his life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, a gesture that reflects Ricky’s generosity and commitment to helping others. Ricky Gibb Smith will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who knew and loved him. His memory will remain a beacon of love, laughter, and kindness, and his legacy will endure in the hearts of his family and friends.
