Ricky Gene Hardin, born on January 25, 1959, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at his home on July 2, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Surrounded by the love of his family, Ricky's journey on this earth came to a gentle close, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, integrity, and devotion. Ricky was a man who embodied the values of hard work and honesty. His career began as a dedicated poultry farmer, where he learned the virtues of diligence and perseverance. Later, he transitioned to a career as a used car salesman. Beyond his professional life, Ricky was an active member of the New Hope Church in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, where he found solace and community for many years. A man of simple pleasures, Ricky cherished the quiet moments spent at home. He found joy in the serene beauty of sunsets, often watching them unfold from his favorite chair in the garage. His passion for collecting old coins and misprinted money was a testament to his appreciation for history and uniqueness, and he delighted in sharing this hobby with others. Family was the cornerstone of Ricky's life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Hardin and Joyce and Johnny Owen, and his beloved uncle, Delbert Carr. He leaves behind his children, Janie Bardsley (and husband Joe), Betty McDowell (and husband Jacob), Mary McDowell (and husband Jared), Jasmin Hardin, and Jaydn Hardin. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Sabrina Smith, Samantha Skelton, Angela McDowell, Rachael McDowell, Mary Kate McDowell, Michael McDowell, Jacob McDowell, and Malachi Barry, as well as great-grandchildren McClain Skelton Jr. and Oliver Skelton. Ricky is also survived by his loving siblings: Norma Walker (and husband Clint), Teresa Wright (and husband Ronnie), Debbie Dersam (and husband Fred), Jimmy Don Hardin (and wife Brenda), Becky Dersam (and husband Donald), and Charles Owens, along with his uncle Frankie Owen (and wife Ruby) and cousin Frankie James. Ricky's greatest pride and joy were the two children he was blessed to have later in life. Being their father and guiding them to know God fulfilled him deeply and added profound meaning to his journey. A service celebrating Ricky's life will be held on July 18, 2026, at 4:00 PM at New Hope Church, located at 13746 Greasy Valley Rd, Prairie Grove, Arkansas 72753.
