Ricky Bernard Anthony Sr.
July 16, 1954 — August 10, 2026
Ricky Bernard Anthony Sr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026. Born on July 16, 1954, in Pontiac, Michigan, Ricky was the beloved son of the late James and Callie Anthony. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Charles Ingram, Ruth Clark, Paul Anthony, Mattie Anthony, and James Anthony.
Ricky was a proud graduate of Pontiac Central High School, class of 1972. He went on to forge a successful career at Chrysler, where he worked as a team lead for two decades, leaving a lasting impression on his colleagues with his dedication and warmth before retiring in 2008. Known for his fish fries and jersey sales at the Jefferson plant, he was a beacon of camaraderie and joy.
On July 11, 1992, Ricky married the love of his life, Darlene Bell, in their hometown of Pontiac. Together, they shared 34 years of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Ricky and Darlene created a beautiful family, blessed with seven children: Kareeba Singlton-Avery (Cassandra), Ahmed Anthony (Tianna), Sameka Anthony, Genesis Anthony, James Anthony (Kayra), Callie Anthony, and Rickey Anthony Jr. (Emiley). His legacy continues through his 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, who will forever hold dear the lessons and love he imparted.
Ricky found joy in the simple pleasures of life. An avid bowler, he shared his passion for the sport with his wife, children, and extended family. Even after a shoulder injury sidelined him, his presence remained in the alleys, coaching and supporting those he loved. Fishing was another favorite pastime, often culminating in family fish fries that filled his home with love and laughter. Ricky's social circle extended beyond his family, as he was a cherished member of "The Breakfast Club," a group of friends who gathered regularly at Avon Donuts, making lasting memories over coffee and conversation.
His faith was an integral part of his life. Ricky was a devoted member of the Redeemed Christian Center for the past decade and previously served on the deacon board for both Liberty Missionary Baptist Church and Alpha & Omega Christ Centered Ministries. His commitment to his faith and community was unwavering, and his contributions will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Ricky is survived by his loving wife, Darlene; his children and their spouses; his siblings, Ruby Lynette Hall (Elbert), Laura Davenport, and Kenneth (Sylvia) Anthony; as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
A service to honor and celebrate Ricky's life will be held at Redeemed Christian Center, located at 114 S. Genesee Ave, Pontiac, MI 48341, on August 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
