March 13, 1957 — August 19, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Rick Andreasen on August 19, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on March 13, 1957, in Glenwood, Minnesota, Rick was the cherished son of George Arthur Andreasen and Arlene Agnes Peklo. Rick's early years were filled with the love and warmth of a close-knit family. He grew up alongside his siblings Marvin, Randy, Georgia, Pat, and Darby. He was confirmed in the Kensington Covenant Church. His heart was forever bound to his beloved Judi, whom he met in 1989. They married on July 8, 1994, and together they built a life rich in love, raising four wonderful children: Lara, Derek, Chelsey, and Matthew. Rick's educational journey led him to Kensington High School, where he graduated in 1975. A stalwart Viking, he shone on the football field, basketball court, and baseball diamond. He pursued his passion for literature at the University of Minnesota Morris, where he studied English Literature. His professional path followed the footsteps of his father at Morris Blacktop, and he later dedicated 17 years to Morris Sealcoat and Trucking. He and Judi purchased Crossroads General Store in 1990. Rick was a dedicated coach for 7th grade basketball and Summer Rec baseball, and a respected referee for high school basketball. Rick was an avid golfer and bowler, and he relished the excitement of casino visits and family trips to Las Vegas. Above all, Rick was a man of laughter, known for his quick wit and joyful spirit. He treasured every moment spent with family, whether it was sharing a hearty laugh or enjoying the serene beauty of nature from his deck, watching birds and gazing at the lake. Rick's legacy lives on in his devoted wife Judi; his children Lara (Neil) Schluter, Derek (Kaia) Andreasen, Chelsey (Ryan) Kornetzke, and Matthew Smith DeLong; and his twelve beloved grandchildren: Ethan, Ellie, Collin, Mackenzie, Brady, Jordan, Emelyn, Brianna, Ely, Riley, Ephram, and Cohen. He is also survived by his siblings Randy (Diane), Georgia (Keith) Nelson, Pat (Le) Hausmann, Darby (Cindy Hardin Wier), and sister-in-law Rosie (Marvin), along with a host of in-laws; Jane Voorhees, John and Deanna Amundson, Dean and Kay Voorhees, and Larry and Caorl Voorhees; and many neices and nephews. Rick was predeceased by his parents George and Arlene, his brother Marvin, and his brother-in-law Darrel Voorhees. His memory will be a blessing to all who knew him. A celebration of Rick's life will be held on September 19, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Kensington Community Center, located at 19 Central Avenue, Kensington, MN 56343. All who loved him are welcome to attend. The Andreasen family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who reached out with calls, texts, and visits during this time. Your support and love have been a source of comfort and strength.
