It is with profound sadness and love that we announce the passing of Richard Wooten, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this world peacefully on April 20, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. Born on October 14, 1944, in Arcadia, Florida, Richard lived a life full of love, adventure, and unwavering kindness. Richard was the beloved son of Raymond and Lillian Wooten, who instilled in him the values of hard work, compassion, and integrity. He was a devoted brother to his predeceased siblings, Willard and Gene Wooten. Richard was also preceded in death by his cherished daughter, Kimberly Wooten, whose memory he carried close to his heart every day. A proud graduate of Everglades High School, Richard went on to forge a successful career, owning and operating Wooten Everglades Airboat Tours alongside his father, Raymond. Through this venture, he shared his love for the breathtaking beauty of the Everglades with countless visitors, leaving them with memories they would cherish forever. Richard married the love of his life, Barbara Wooten, on March 31, 1980. Together, they built a beautiful life and shared 46 wonderful years, filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished moments. Richard and Barbara raised three beautiful children, Jamie (Jennifer), Lindsey (Billy), and their bonus child, Eddie (Jessica), who were the pride and joy of his life. As an honorary Deacon at Faith World in Leesburg, Florida, Richard's faith was a guiding light that shone brightly in every aspect of his life. His dedication to his community and his unwavering belief in the good of people inspired all who had the privilege of knowing him. Richard's passions included hunting, fishing, and gardening, pursuits that allowed him to connect with the natural world he so deeply respected. He was known for his warm smile, big hugs, and a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcomed and valued. His kindness and generosity touched countless lives, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara, his children, Jamie, Lindsey, and bonus child Eddie, as well as his 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, who will continue to carry forward his legacy of love and kindness. A celebration of Richard's life will be held on April 24, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Faith World, located at 2205 W Main Street, Leesburg, FL 34748. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well-lived, to share stories, and to honor the incredible man who enriched the lives of so many.
