Richard Stanley

Richard, born on January 30, 1968, in the heart of Kansas City, Missouri, left us unexpectedly on July 13, 2026, at the age of 58. His sudden passing due to a stroke has left a profound void in the lives of all who knew him. Richard was a beacon of light, humor, and kindness in a world that dearly needed him. He was the beloved son of Edwin and Thelma, and although preceded in death by his father, Edwin, his legacy continues through his mother, his cherished children Jeremy (Jenae'), Tyrone (Nikki), and Lisa Brooks (Marcus), and his 12 adoring grandchildren. Richard's presence will also be deeply missed by numerous cousins, extended family, and a wide circle of loving friends. A proud alumnus of East High School in Kansas City, Richard went on to serve his country with honor in the U.S. Army from 1986 to 1993. During his service, he achieved the rank of Sergeant and spent 18 months stationed in Korea. His dedication and commitment were recognized with the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service, a testament to his unwavering sense of duty and excellence. After completing his military service, Richard embarked on a fulfilling career as a mechanical engineer at Ford Motor Company, dedicating 30 years to the organization until his retirement in 2025. He was not only a skilled engineer but also a generous mentor, guiding young engineers and inspiring them to reach their potential. Richard was a pillar of his community, actively involved with the Metropolitan Baptist Temple for over two decades. His faith and camaraderie enriched the lives of fellow members and strengthened the bonds within his community. Always quick with a joke and a warm smile, Richard had an exceptional ability to make everyone feel welcomed and at ease. His quick wit and infectious humor were legendary, lighting up even the darkest of days. Outside of work and community service, Richard's greatest joys were found in the simple pleasures of life: his love for football, and spending cherished moments with his grandchildren, who brought immense happiness to his life. A service to honor and celebrate Richard's life will be held on July 25, 2026, at the Metropolitan Baptist Temple, a place that held deep significance in his heart. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Richard's memory. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have reached out with calls, flowers, meals, and support during this time of mourning. Your kindness and compassion have been a source of comfort as they navigate this profound loss. Richard's legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering support. He touched the lives of many and will be fondly remembered as a devoted father, a loving grandfather, a loyal friend, and a man of integrity. His spirit will continue to inspire those he leaves behind, and he will forever remain in our hearts.
