Born on May 28, 1939, in Atlanta, Georgia, he was the beloved son of Ralph and Dorothy Swaby, who predeceased him. Richard's life was a tapestry woven with love, dedication, and a genuine passion for the simple joys of life. He spent his formative years in Pueblo, Colorado, where he graduated from high school, laying a strong foundation for his academic pursuits. Richard's thirst for knowledge led him to University of Colorado Boulder, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in English. He furthered his education at the University of Clear Lake, obtaining a master's degree in accounting—a testament to his commitment to learning and professional excellence. On May 27, 1989, Richard married the love of his life, Patricia Lawson, embarking on a partnership marked by love and devotion. Together they built a life filled with warmth and affection, celebrating 36 years of marriage. Patricia was not only his partner but his confidante and best friend, sharing in all of life's adventures. Richard's heart was as expansive as his interests. In his younger years, he was an avid golfer, a passion that later translated into virtual rounds on his computer as time passed. His love for baseball, particularly the Houston Astros, was a cherished part of his life. Richard shared countless conversations with his daughter Kristy, discussing games and players, a shared bond that brought them joy and connection. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia, who stood by his side through the many seasons of life. His legacy lives on in his children, Kristy Donaldson (Curt), Nicole Flance (Bill), Jolie Suire, and Tabatha Swaby (Patrick), who carry forward his values of kindness and integrity. Richard was a proud grandfather to Taylor Donaldson (Brittney), Andrew Flance, Evan Flance (Cami), Elizabeth Haskett (Meagan), Sarah Heckman (Andrew), Lauren Suire, Jared Mowles (Jessica), and Jacoby Mowles (Erin), and a cherished great-grandfather to Emery Flance, Coraline Mowles, Johnn Plumley, Dani, Gracie and Branden Hicks, Landon Foster, Alex Hinson and Cannon Manning. Each of them holds dear the wisdom and warmth he imparted. Richard also leaves behind his brother, Cliff Swaby (Sandy), along with nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever remember his gentle spirit and generous heart. His family was the center of his world, and he leaves them with a legacy of love and laughter. Beyond his academic and professional achievements, Richard's true wealth lay in the relationships he nurtured and the memories he created with those around him.
