Richard was the cherished son of the late Robert Donald Vautaw and Emma Jean Collins Vautaw. He was preceded in death by his dear siblings, Roberta J. Smith, James P. Vautaw, and Robert D. Vautaw II, and his beloved grandson, Michael Vautaw. Though they have gone before him, their memories continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew and loved them. He is survived by his children, Robert E. Vautaw, Richard J. Vautaw, Randall S. Vautaw, and Raina M (Vautaw) Rigney. Richard's legacy also lives on through his 19 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren, who will miss his warmth, wisdom, and unwavering support. A proud graduate of Wendell Willkie High School in 1960, Richard was a man of many talents and labored with dedication throughout his career. He began his professional journey at Continental Can Corp in Elwood, Indiana, and later pursued his passion for mechanics as a self-employed welder and mechanic. Richard's adventurous spirit led him to the open roads as a long-haul truck driver until his well-deserved retirement. Richard had a deep love for the great outdoors, finding joy and tranquility in fishing, hunting, and exploring nature. His hands were always busy, whether repairing cars or lending a helping hand to those in need. His kindness and generosity were well-known among family and friends, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Richard's life and legacy during a service on July 15, 2026, at 6:00 PM.
