It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Rodriguez, a beloved husband, father, and friend. Richard departed this world on February 11, 2026, after a courageous battle with diabetes, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He was 64 years old. Richard was born on August 10, 1961, in Houston, Texas, to Albert and Olga Rodriguez. From an early age, Richard exuded warmth and kindness, traits that would endear him to many throughout his life. He graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1980 where he first developed his love for music and friendship. Pursuing higher education, he went on to attend the University of Houston, a time he often recalled with great fondness. In a life marked by devotion and resilience, Richard found his greatest joy in his family. On July 26, 1986, he married the love of his life, Gloria. Together, they shared over thirty beautiful years of marriage, filled with laughter, adventure, and an unwavering partnership. Their union was blessed with a son, Matthew Christian Rodriguez, who, alongside his wife Anna, carries forward the loving spirit of his father. Richard's professional journey took him into the realm of retail sales, where he worked diligently and with great pride until a leg injury necessitated his early retirement. Despite this setback, Richard's gentle nature and remarkable sense of humor never waned. He possessed an innate ability to lighten any room with a well-timed joke, bringing comfort and joy to those around him. Beyond his professional life, Richard was a man of simple pleasures. He found solace in music, often losing himself in the melodies of his favorite songs. An avid sports enthusiast, he could frequently be found cheering on his favorite teams. He also enjoyed the leisurely pastime of playing games on his phone and was a self-proclaimed movie fanatic, delighting in the magic of cinema. In honoring Richard's wishes, a private event will be held in the future to celebrate his life and legacy. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered kind words and support during this difficult time. Richard's memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Though his physical presence is no longer with us, Richard's spirit will forever remain a guiding light for his beloved wife Gloria, son Matthew, daughter-in-law Anna, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His laughter will echo in the stories shared, and his kindness will continue to inspire. Richard Rodriguez will be dearly missed but never forgotten. May he rest in eternal peace.
