A devoted father, Richard's legacy lives on through his sons, Rick M. Shumate, and his wife Amanda (Paladino) Shumate, and Seth D. Shumate, and his wife Mirna Shumate. His love for his family was immeasurable, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments and happiness. Richard was also the proud grandfather of five grandchildren, who brought boundless joy and laughter into his life. His eyes would light up at the mere mention of their names, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Richard is also survived by his sister, Rebecca (Shumate) Cavender, and her husband, Lowell Cavender, with whom he shared a lifelong bond of love and support. The Shumate family, though touched by loss, remains united in love and remembrance.
