It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Lynn VanHoose, who departed this world on October 1, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Born on November 26, 1950, in Columbus, Ohio, Richard was the beloved son of Edith (Skaggs) VanHoose and Richard VanHoose, both of whom preceded him in death. Richard was a proud graduate of Johnathan Alder High School, where he laid the foundation for a life filled with passion and dedication. He devoted many years of his career to serving the community through his work with the Plain City Water and Street Department, where he was respected for his commitment and integrity. A man of simple pleasures, Richard was an avid deer hunter and fisherman, never missing a season to engage with the great outdoors. His love for nature was a constant in his life, as was his enthusiasm for car races. These passions not only brought him joy but also connected him with a community of like-minded individuals who will remember him fondly. Richard's family was the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his loving children, Andy VanHoose and Heather Daugherty (VanHoose), who will forever hold him close in their hearts. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Christopher VanHoose and Tabitha Daugherty, and extends to his three great-grandchildren, who will grow up with tales of their grandfather's strength and kindness. Richard shared a special bond with his siblings, Debbie Thompson (VanHoose), Paul VanHoose and James Hall who stood by him through life's many adventures. Their shared memories will be a source of comfort in the days to come. A service to celebrate Richard's life will be held on October 18, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Ferguson Funeral Home, located at 203 East Main Street, Plain City, Ohio 43064. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor his memory and share in the warmth of his spirit. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Richard's memory to a charity of your choice, as a tribute to the generous and caring nature that defined his life. Richard Lynn VanHoose will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his zest for life, and the indelible mark he left on all who knew him. While he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
