Richard Luther Brown, a beloved father, devoted grandfather, spirited friend, and cherished sibling, passed away peacefully at home on July 23, 2026. Born on December 31, 1960, in St. Louis, Missouri, Richard's life was a testament to love, resilience, and community. Richard was the beloved son of the late Luther Ben Brown and Delores Bass-Brown. His parents' nurturing spirit and grounding love remained with him throughout his life. Though preceded in death by his parents and his son, Garland, Richard's legacy continues through his surviving children: Tre', Darron (Lori), Gregory (Sabrina), and Richla. His love extended to his 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, each carrying forward a piece of his vibrant spirit. He shared a special bond with his siblings: Karen (George) Kimball, Zena (Kenneth) Norman, Alonda Brown, Malcolm (Jackie), Rodney (Carolyn), Byron (Tammy), and Shelton (Patricia). Richard's life was further enriched by the close companionship of dear friends like Ms. Viola Galbbreath, who stood by his side through life's joys and challenges. Richard's early education took root in the halls of the St. Louis Public Schools system, where he attended Dunbar and Columbia elementary schools, and later, Vashon High School. His commitment to personal growth led him to earn his G.E.D. after enlisting in the U.S. Army. His service to the nation was marked by honor and dedication, culminating in an honorable medical discharge. A man of many talents, Richard found fulfillment in his career, working for the City Refuse Department and later retiring from the Federal Government as a Postal Service Employee. Richard's work ethic was paralleled only by his zest for life; he was never idle, always seeking to engage with the world around him. From an early age, Richard confessed hope in Christ and was baptized under the guidance of Rev. Lemon Johnson. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, providing him with strength and purpose. A fervent fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Richard loved hosting family gatherings to watch the game, his home filled with laughter and camaraderie. Known for his outgoing personality and boisterous, yet welcoming voice, Richard was a presence that could not be missed. His passion for dancing, particularly "The Bop," saw him win contests, charming all with his sharp dress and infectious joy. A celebration of Richard's life will be held on August 7, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Dr., St Peters, MO 63376. In honor of Richard's life and legacy, the family wishes to express their gratitude to all who shared in his journey. They note, "Richard touched many as he passed through and he was well known and liked; he will truly be missed."
