In Loving Memory of Richard LeRoy Love It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of Richard LeRoy Love, who left this world peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 22, 1962, in Des Moines, Iowa. Richard's life was a testament to resilience, love, and dedication. Richard was the beloved son of the late Anna F. Love (Wagner) and Richard Atkins. He was preceded in death by his cherished sister, Marsha Renee Love, and dear niece and nephew, Micah R. Harper (Williams) and Shakeem Love. Despite these profound losses, Richard's spirit remained unyielding and hopeful. He is survived by his three devoted children: Jerry White, Eddie Harden, and Richard Love, who were the pride and joy of his life. Richard's legacy continues through his eight adored grandchildren, who brought him countless moments of joy and laughter. He is also survived by his six loving sisters: Mari Love-Brown, Micah Eubanks, Marsha Ruth Love , Relonda Love, Ronda Love and Monica Love, as well as a host of nieces and nephews including LaShonna Love, Antonio Love, Ancell Johnson, Ivy Ann Love, Stephenie Williams, Stephen Williams, Relonda M. Love, Anna Williamson, Micheal Williams, DeCarlos D. Love, Bianca Love, Alexandria Love, Shalaya Love, and DeCarlos W. Love. Richard's early education began in the elementary schools of Des Moines, Iowa, and he continued his studies at Minneapolis North High School. His career path led him to a rewarding position as an engineer with Minneapolis Public Schools, where he dedicated 14 years of service. In 2025, he proudly earned his boilermaker’s license, a testament to his commitment to lifelong learning and professional growth. A man of many passions, Richard was an avid basketball player who could often be found shooting hoops at Harrison and North Commons in North Minneapolis. His love for the game was rivaled only by his enthusiasm for collecting vintage Cadillacs and raising dogs, both of which he affectionately referred to as his "babies." Richard was a man of strong principles and unwavering dedication. As a Master Mason 3rd* and a member of the King David Lodge CATO Shrine since 2001, he exemplified the values of brotherhood, integrity, and community service. Above all, Richard cherished his family. His greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, who he loved with all his heart. His warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew him. In honor of Richard's life and legacy, the family requests that memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice in his name. His memory will forever remain in our hearts, a guiding light of love and strength.
